Games that can be played on low-budget laptop

I have a low-budget laptop, Acer 3 120GB, with only 11GB of free space and 4GB RAM.

I am not a serious gamer and just want to have a few games such as car driving games or football games available when I am bored. I already have Trackmania Nations driving game installed and a 2002 version of MS Flight Simulator installed which work well and do not use much memory.

Has anybody come across similar games that would be suitable?

One of the Football Manager series from some time back might fit the bill ... only a few quid for the CD version on Ebay. Just looked at my CD for FM 2006 and it only needs 128MB ram. I seem to remember that FM 2008 was a very good version, that should also be quite sparing on system requirements too.

Football Manager 2008 requires 256Mb of system memory.

Must be noted that system requirements of games are primarily that - of the system. Have to bear in mind the overheads of the operating system, most likely Windows, so just because you had 256Mb of memory in the day, didn't mean the game would run well, as that 256Mb of memory couldn't be dedicated solely to the game. However as memory capacity increased by default it became less of an issue.

You can probably run some relatively modern games easily. I can run Sims 4 on my laptop, Havendock and Two Point Hospital (and its spiritual predecessor Theme Hospital (and probably the CorsixTH spinoff). My laptop is two and a half years old.

Thanks for the replies. When I mentioned football games, I meant football playing games, but football manager games seems like a good fit.

FM2008 and 2010 on a laptop from 2010 for me. Playing non-league 2010 offered much more tactical flexibility but the budget restraint was quite a challenge and I couldn't afford coaches.

Also a soft spot for FA Premier league football manager 1999, as I managed to sign a young kid called Thierry Henry and stuck him upfront with Emile Heskey.
