Pillows!

OH needs a VERY firm pillow.

We were in Dunelm and The Range yesterday and came out more confused than anything. The main problem seems to be that, like a lot of people, he cannot stand memory foam. Neither of those stores seemed able to offer anything.

Can anyone suggest suggest a make or shop, please? I have no idea where to post this other than Old Style.

IKEA has a range of pillows and has display models out that you can squeeze. Not sure if any would count as "very firm" but if there's one not too far away you could take a look?

Have a look at M&S 2 Pack Smart Wash & Dry Firm Pillows - currently on offer at £14.40 for 2. I've been using them for years!

I have a wool pillow from (I think) Devon duvets. The wool is loose inside the cover so, some can be removed or added to get the desired density

We bought wool pillows a few years ago from Baavet and also a wool duvet. I didn't get on with the wool pillow but DH does and likes it. The duvet is very warm (we bought the 13 tog one as our property isn't very warm in winter!). If the pillow isn't firm enough you can buy extra wool to make it how firm you want it.

There seems to be so many combinations around, you just need to get out and look at a few. I have some M&S firm pillows with a duck or goose filling. Quite old but I bet they still do something similar.

Another vote for wool pillows - adjustable as required and super comfortable. Expensive though.

If he needs a VERY firm pillow, could you just fold a wool blanket/throw into the correct size to fit inside a pillowcase?

I asked the same question of a friend who rents out a holiday cottage and she told me she gets her pillows etc from Out of Eden as the visitors always said how nice they were. So I decided to try them. I wanted a very hard pillow and the one I got isn't really but the support is excellent so I'm happy.

As I recall they had something about "if your order is over £60 delivery is free" and that was fine because the pillow I wanted was going to be £69. Turned out that it was under £60 as they didn't include vat so was actually £58 or something. So I ordered a pack of extra thick white cotton face cloths for, I think, £5 which put me up above £60 and saved paying £9 delivery. Great customer service, fast delivery. I'll be using them again.
