I used to time my visits to the supermarket to coincide with the big markdowns, but I've mellowed with age, and just visit when convenient.

There are multiple areas where they stuff the food with yellow stickers, so I only look when passing. But half of it looks squashed and horrible these days so I rarely bother unless it's herbs or fruit or veg

I avoid them. I only find them in precut greens, and I'd rather they're fresh to last me 2/3 days

I always look at the fresh food. Some get used in jams and chutney, some for the freezer.
But I only pick the things I would normally buy , occasionally something special.
Meat for the freezer.
When working I would stop off after the dog walk about 6pm and we had 3 supermarkets in a row. I would check each.

I check out meat/fish & dairy orange stickered items (Lidl) and stock the freezer if not using that day.

The food in most shops have a yellow sticker price reduction of pennies - We have in the past had some bargains ( in the times when you were looked down on for looking at or buying reduced food-now those same people are looking too.) Only buy if in good enough condition and what we will use.
More likely to pay a few pence more for an item that will be in a better condition, has a better date and we can enjoy.

There was a time when stickered food was an essential part of my household budgeting, but I now leave these items for people who have more need than me.

I always look for them in supermarkets but will only buy if I will use it the same/next day (depending on what it is) or, if it can be frozen, want some for the freezer. In Lidl last Wednesday (26th Aug) I spotted some reduced price Ham with a use by date of 30th August. I don't know if it was a mistake but, although I try to avoid UPFs, my wife was happy I picked up a couple of the packs.

I definitely take a look when I'm there and if there's something tasty that i fancy for dinner or useful to bung in the freezer for when easy meals are needed, it goes in the trolley.
