Link Threatening Legal Action
Have a debt for around 7k that has made its way to Link.
I changed bank accounts and closed off the one that was used to.pay Link. Correspondence received stating repayment plan that I had in place cancelled due to this.
I have emailed Link twice to explain situation and saying happy to set up payment plan again on same basis with new bank details.
No response to any of the emails and continuing to receive texts and calls chasing me. Called Link and said about the emails sent (provided dates) and I have not had a response. Was told that "we are a little behind in responding to communications". Told them I feel that this is now harassment and raised a complaint.
Then in the mail yesterday, received correspondence from Link saying that they are passing to Brodies (I am in Scotland) for legal action if I dont make contact.
Beginning to get a little annoyed at this constant barrage of communication from them after I have done what I need to do at my end.
If it goes to Brodies, and I have proof of contacting them via email on more than one occasion would that be enough?
I have three accounts that are with LINK but they only seem to be aggressively pursuing this one. Would that be due to the conditions that they purchased the debt on?
P.S- I haven't heard anything back on the complaint yet, though the call handler who took details said that they would pass onto complaints team.

is there no option on their website to set up the new payment plan?

Because I had one in place previously that they cancelled, that option isnt available and I am told to contact them.

Can't you pay by bank transfer? You should always do that over debit card or direct debit so you stay in control. They try and push you to pay by debit card or direct debot because it makes it more difficult for you to change the amount, but their bank details should be available on their website somewhere or on the back of the letter they sent you.

Give a brief timetable of the problem eg
02/08/26 I emailed you again saying I want to set up a payment plan from my new bank
Say you want them to take back the debt from brodies, allow you to set up the payments plan which you have been trying to do, and pay compensation of £100 for the hassle and stress this is causing you
2) if this (or any other of the debts with Link or with any other debt purchasers) were originally loans or cards or catalgues, ask link to send you the CCA for the debt. If Link cannot do this, the debt is unenforceable and you can simply stop paying.
This article explains more about asking for the CCA and has a link to the exact template letter to use. Don't improvise or use ChatGPT on this one!0
