Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet.
Not a bad morning after overnight rain, it's quite humid but hopefully will stay dry.
The meeting yesterday was a bit stressful, my head is bursting! I'm taking flexible retirement, reducing my hours by a bit more than I had intended but at least it means I don't have to move location. I think it's the right decision, have to remember I'm not getting any younger!
Glad your DD has a date for treatment TA, it's such a worrying time for you all.
Hope you get an appointment for your ear soon Gers.
I woke up at 3.30 and couldn't get back to sleep so it's going to be a long day.
Hugs to anyone in need, take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. CAMELOT I'm happy the outcome of the meeting is almost what you wanted it to be.
We are still waiting for the promised thunderstorms which are yet still to happen. Maybe today we will finally get some rain!
Youngest DGD rang me all excited yesterday, she has got a place on the Hair and Beauty course she wanted to do following her O'levels. It was nice to get a bit of good news for a change! Meanwhile a quick update on both my DF's. Bus Buddy is convalescing well after her op but would you believe no District Nurse is calling for the 2ce daily drain procedure. You now have to do it yourself! It will be DIY ops next the way we are heading! She's back to Leeds again next Tuesday for the prognosis. That sounds worrying. My other DF (the one waiting for results from all her DH's procedures and scans) finally heard yesterday that all results are fine with no sign of the cancer they expected. So it's now back to the drawing board for his GPs to find what is causing his drastic weight loss and lack of appetite. They had to go shopping at the w/e for new clothes for him as everything was falling off him!
I am dithering here as to whether to have a week at the caravan next week although looking at the forecast it's not a particularly good one. Although the site doesn't close until the 1st November I don't particularly enjoy going once the weather turns cold.
It's Thursday again so I have the excitement of the kitchen and bathroom clean today. Such joy! Have a good day folks if you can and take care all x

Morning again, it's dull and damp here.
I'm tired after a bad night, but that's nothing new for me.
Nothing much on today, I'm glad to say. A bit of of tidying, dog walking, and I must keep on reading my Book Club book. It's quite a good book this month, they aren't always - of course that's just my opinion. Once or twice we've had books that were so dire ( in our opinion) that practically all of us gave them a thumbs down.
I'm pleased that you're getting a reduction in working hours Camelot, even if it's a bit more than you want. I'm sure you'll happily settle into retirement!
Congrats to your Dgd TA, as you say, some good news. Thoughts to your daughter, and Bus Buddy.
Going to the caravan might be a bit depressing now the weather's turning, there's nothing worse than a succession of damp grey days, and we get a lot of them I think.
Hope everyone has a good day. Thoughts to anyone who is not well, or is a bit fed up. Take care folks.

Morning all - thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons. @camelot1001 - at least the situation is now sorted and the weight is off. @TravellingAbuela - some better news is always welcome. well done to your youngest DGD. @IzzyBee - I retired from full time work as soon as I received my teacher's pension and then worked part-part time for two more years until I got really fed up. Had a gap before my state pension kicked in but I weathered it. Now occupationally lazy - I've earned it.
Yesterday was really faffy. I wanted to print out some stuff, haven't got a printer an ymore so headed off to the library. Had to sign some forms and then was handed a laptop and shown a desk. When I drew out my flash drive the (lovely) librarian told me that I couldn't use it on their laptops so I went back home to collect my own. Once connected to the secure network my email wouldn't open as there was a big update happening and using my webmail wasn't allowed. Back home again to email the documents to the library and returned to collect them. 😖 On one of my visits home I found that the new postie had left a parcel in my hall that wasn't for me so I took it back to the delivery office on my way to the library. Worn out after all that!
Today is another lovely day, at least so far. I have to crack on SA stuff, the accountant sent me another email asking me to record any accounts I closed and where the monies went. Luckily I keep all that though compiling it will be laborious, the upside is that it means another spreadsheet, so not all bad.
@dp1 - has your little one had her cast put on yet? Is she coping OK? Hugs to all. xx

Good morning
The calm before the storm, thunderstorms are forecast from 8.30 onwards. No rain at present. Yesterday rain wasn't forecast but we had sharp showers in the afternoon.
After doing the usual chores today it'll be a day of catch up tv if the weather's bad. Beef stew for tea, haven't had it for ages and the weather gives a good excuse.
Camelot, glad you got the best result you could. You'll soon wonder how you managed to work more hours.
Have a good day all, take care.

@camelot1001 sometimes things happen for a reason, you will be surprised when things settle down at how quickly you adapted! I took partial retirement in 2024 after BC and then had an opportunity to take a small lump sum to finish in April 2025, and I haven't regretted it at all. Money is tight but no work stress is a joy!

Morning all
Absolutely pouring down here and expected to continue until at least noon. Upside is we'll be getting green grass again!
Always nice to get some good news for a change TA x
My D***n hoover doesn't seem to be charging so I'm trying it on the old charger in the garage that DH uses for the car etc. Hope it's just the charger. Managed to hoover downstairs before it ran out though
No other plans today so hope everyone has a good day x

Afternoon all.
The last two days have passed by in a whirl - hairdresser and top-up shop on Tuesday, long meet up with ex-neighbour yesterday for catch up, coffee, browsing CSs and a visit to her DS and family. She used to provide child care for her grandchildren when they were at school but no need now as they're young adults, one working and one at Uni. My, how the years fly by. Anyway, we had a lovely day out and the rain held off too.
Not so today, a cloudy start has given way to steady drizzle although it's mild and there's no wind. That will probably mean the wet stuff won't blow over any time soon but it is much needed after all. Spotted the first holly berries of the season the other day (already turning red) and mistletoe berries - does that bode an early winter, I wonder?
This morning I've been catching up on what didn't get done over those two days and am now settling down to sew up the pieces of a cardigan I knitted earlier in the year so that will be another WIP done with. My internet dropped out last night slap bang in the middle of a programme I was watching (wi-fi enabled TV) but all seems to be well now so I'll finish watching that tonight. Tea is a meatloaf using mashed up turkey balls and assorted chopped fridge veggies with potatoes, broccoli and gravy; we can have the cold leftover pieces another night with chips and pickles. I've also made a date tea loaf.
@camelot - Good news you've been able to make a decision, it should help to ease you into 'proper' retirement.
@TA - I'm so pleased you've had some good news at last. Well done to youngest DGD.
@Gers - Not surprised you felt worn out after that faffy day! I love the description of being 'occupationally lazy' and couldn't agree more, I've earned it! 🤣
Right, it's time for coffee with a slice of buttered tea loaf so I'll wish everyone a good day. Take care all. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.6
