On 10 September, the world-renowned English Chamber Orchestra takes up residence in the achingly beautiful Trinity College Chapel for a night of candlelit strings, directed by violinist Harriet Mackenzie. Think soaring music, soaring architecture, and the kind of atmosphere that reminds you why live classical music still does something nothing else quite can.

There are two sittings to choose from:

6pm: Opens with Eccles’ Mad Lover’s Aire, followed by Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, Amy Beach’s Romance, and closes with Vivaldi’s Winter from The Four Seasons.

8pm: The same gorgeous opening pairing, before Cecilia McDowall’s Love Through the Seasons leads into that same glorious Vivaldi finale.

Either way, you’re in for an hour of pure musical escapism. If you’re planning to make the most of dinner at KIBOU beforehand, we’d suggest going for the 6pm sitting – you’ll be out in good time to settle in at the restaurant and make a proper evening of it.
