Eclipse, what eclipse,

Morning, thanks Gers.
The eclipse, yes, it just got a bit dim here then lightened up again! In 1999 when the last one happened we were in Scotland on holiday in our new motorhome. We were parked up, and watched it out of our back window, it was all reflected in the boot lid of the car behind us.
We've been away for a couple of days and had a good time in Tynemouth and surrounding area. Not far, but it's still 'away'.
One of my nephews and his wife are coming for tea today, We haven't seen them for a while so have a bit of catching up to do.
I haven't read back yet, but will do so.
Have a good day if you can folks, take care.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I thought there was only me that didnt join in the eclipse excitement last night! Yet I still remember watching a partial eclipse when I was around 3 years old. I think it was mid morning and not a lot were out watching it as they would doubtless have been at work or school. No special specs to put on in those bygone days!
Not a lot is planned for today thanks to the forecast 33 deg for hereabouts. I brought forward the Thursday bathroom and clean to yesterday in view of a day of sloth and trying to escape the heat today.
But I was running behind most of the day thanks to a morning of one phone call after another. First my Bus Buddy rang to tell me her skin cancer op date has been brought forward to tomorrow. So it's all systems go for her. They told her she will have two drains in afterwards which will need dressing and changing twice a day. She has no idea who or where that will happen as she surely can't be expected to go to Leeds twice a day. Time will tell.
Then a phone call with yet more bad news. One of the ladies in our hairdressing group has been diagnosed with stage 4 C. In view of her age she has declined any treatment and will just go with the flow. It's so very sad. I thought bad news came in 3's but that now makes it 4.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or sad. Take care all x

Good morning
Not much of an eclipse here, just seemed to cloud over a bit. Today temperatures are forecast to rise to 36degs, so I won't be doing much.
Tea tonight will be gammon egg and chips for himself, probably another salad for me.
@TravellingAbuela so sorry you have had more bad news.
Have a good day all, keep hydrated if you have the heat. Take care.

Too cloudy here for anything more than a darkening of the sky and the birds all hiding. Without seeing the actual eclipse the effect was quite startling. It was lovely seeing lots of gatherings and jollity at mass viewings. My DNephew, family and friends all had a great time with cereal boxes and beer!
Taking my own advice which I gave to @IzzyBee I took myself off yesterday to the island of Gigha for a wee trip. The ferry is about 35 miles away, the sailing takes 20 minutes as it's only one mile across the sea. It's a great place, small enough to get round and lovely enough to enjoy. And I had an ice-cream made from the dairy farm on the island. Blue cloudy sky and a gentle breeze made it practically perfect.
No plans for today, let's see what the universe brings me. Hugs to all. Take care in the forecasted heat which will completely miss us here, it's been raining this morning already.

Good morning all. Hot here again. It got quite dark last night with the eclipse but we didn't do anything special in terms of watching it.
Today I need to crack on with housework and then plan to go to a meet up with some people at lunchtime. Think driving in an air conditioned car will be the coolest place to be at that time. DH is meant to be dancing at a local independent brewery tonight. I wish he wasn't going in this heat but understand that they don't feel they can cancel.
Roll on the cooler days and then I can get on with doing more.
Stay cool folks!

morning everyone it’s going to be a hot one here I haven’t got a cleaning job this morning as they are away on holiday I’m so pleased about that it’s a big house with lots of windows to hot to work so I am having a day of sloth . Gers that looks like a lovely trip out when I was at my book club last night the girl who runs it her hubby works for the local bus company and a few ideas got discussed about day trips for next year so she’s going to put it to them and see what happens. I’ve got a line of towels out won’t take long to dry and I need to go to the library dogs were out early this morning and they will go out later on tonight they are happy to snooze all day although my little dog should be made to work for a living her six month check at the vets yesterday we weighed her before she went in vet listened to her heart said carry on everything is the same I timed it 1 minute 40 second consultation a prescription and I ordered six months of pills on line altogether £ 346. 80 and the grandchildren wonder why I tell them to either be a vet or a dentist. TA I’m sorry to hear you have had more sad news don’t know about it happening in threes I sometimes think everything comes altogether let’s hope it’s the same with good news . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning all
Another hot day ahead I have all the windows and doors open to let a bit of breeze through while it’s a bit cooler this morning.
Dinner tonight for OH and I will be a prawn cocktail with bread and butter, dd is off out to a leaving do at her work so will eat there.
Nothing much on today I have the shopping to collect at lunch time and dogs to be walked up the woods where it’s cooler. I had a terrible night I went off fine but woke before 2 and then tossed and turned all night so might need a nana nap later on.
TA I’m sorry to hear you have had more bad news sending hugs xx
Have good days all and take care x

Morning all, thanks @Gers.
We had clear skies for the eclipse so it was easily seen but I thought it was under-whelming; it just seemed to be a bit darker for a while - more like subdued sunshine - but I have to admit there was an air of quietness during that time. Among the watchers there was a chap from up the road taking photos; his wife told me he's a hobby artist and his next project will be paintings of the eclipse.
When yesterday's expected phone call from the CVRM clinic arrived, it turned out to be from the GP surgery pharmacist in the form of the usual annual meds review - not what I was expecting at all. Why call themselves a 'special' clinic? 😶 Anyway, done and dusted for another year.
Yesterday was hot, hot, hot. Today will be even hotter so I'll be migrating around different rooms in the house depending on which is the coolest at any given time and doing as little as possible. I had thought about a bus ride into town for a few odds and ends but there's nothing urgent so have shelved that idea for when it's a bit cooler. Tea will be yet another no-cook meal of some description along with lots of water and iced lemon tea.
@TA - I would imagine your Bus Buddy's dressing changes will be done via home visits from the District Nurse (if that's what they're called these days) or maybe by the GP surgery practice nurse. Either way, I hope all goes well for her today. So sorry you've had yet another piece of bad news.
@Rosy - Ouch to your DS's slipped disc and what a performance getting those meds for him.
@Gers - That's a lovely photo, what a nice day out you had.
Take care all, I hope everyone manages to stay cool and safe. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning All
Well we waited and DH even cut a circle in his bit of card but we didn't get a glimpse of the eclipse, hey ho saw pics on the news.
TA sending you big hugs and hope your DF procedure goes OK.
We got back from France on Sunday night, least said about the holiday the better I think. It won't be something I will organise again.
Izzy sorry to hear what happened with the family, very thoughtless.
As I say to my family members I love you but may not like you much at the moment.
DH Just gone off to one of his clubs I need to put a towel wash on in today's heat they will dry in minutes.
Try to keep cool folks, stay safe. Hugs to all who want them.
