Does your dentist know you are autistic and that her comments are an issue for you? If you would find it difficult to discuss with your dentist then I would suggest you write a letter simply explaining and politely ask her not to go on about things that trigger your anxiety.

My dad was a dentist and had notes added to every patients' file so that he could mention (or not) things specific for them. That was in the days of paper files but I would have thought that every computer system would have a note section available.

Or simply ask her to refer you to someone else. And then see how well the new dentist acts after you have let them know why you moved to their practice.

I don’t mind my dentist telling me politely what needs doing or what I am doing wrong etc! Not Berating me about everything I do lol! saying only drink water no Juice fizzy etc too bad for teeth and most fruits too sugary! Or saying out loud whilst looking at my teeth what I might need next time then when I ask says no need to worry!

they have on file that I am autistic her assistant is lovely and friendly so is receptionists

My old dentist at the same place old building was allot better!

I always floss my teeth brush with electric toothbrush to the best I can!

Just want dentist that dose your checkup tell you politely what needs doing & suggests what to do better! That’s all I need! I refuse to have hygienist appointment done 1-2 time a year or have to be begged to have it lol!

    Loads of friendly dentist near!

I just don’t feel the need to keep spending £70-90+ every 3-6 months just to have it done can’t afford to to keep doing it,

    What’s the point in it

What does this mean? Did you mean an electric (water) flosser? If so, then many dentists do not recommended replacing traditional (string) flossing for water flossing but using them to compliment eachother.

If you meant what you said, you can't floss your teeth with a toothbrush… if that's what you're trying to do then this all makes a lot more sense.

Presumably if you're being referred every 3-6 months there is a reason.

What's the point in removing tartar build-up? Is that a genuine question?

    Know what you don't

I mean I floss my teeth before bed every day and use electric tooth brush to clean my teeth!

I mean what’s the point spending £180+ a year on having teeth professionally clean I can’t afford to do that all the time

Not if there is a clinical need (eg gum disease) rather than mainly cosmetic, in which case it should be offered within the NHS band charge. That said many NHS dentists increasingly "blur the boundaries" rather than follow the rules!
