Arriva Charged Kids DD ticket

I've been charged by arriva for my kids monthly bus ticket this month, which seems a little off due to the government subsidising "kids go free" travel for the whole of August. I've emailed Arriva and requested they refund this month's charges, but are they allowed to charge this if the government have mandated free kids…

I emailed the talktous inbox for arriva and they confirmed that I could claim the refund from the bank and that this would cancel my rolling subscription so I would just need to sign up again for September. Bit of a faff but it should get sorted now. I still think it's unfair on anyone who has paid and is unaware of the free travel though.
