@dont_use_vistaprint We were happy with our 10 year old car but then got written off non fault. They only valued it at 3.5k but as we had had it since new it was worth more to us. We had the money to buy a new one but our savings took a hit. I dont think its worth buying someone elses 10 year old car as dont know enough about cars. Hopefully see us for next 10 years but we have such low mileage now it was an extravagance. I only use it for tip runs de cluttering house. Just pointing out the best laid plans can go awry through no fault of your own.
On the children front they can come back after university and after 4 years accommodating again at home we are controversially paying for them to live elsewhere, near their uni friends in another part of country so we can be on our own. Luckily they suggested this and we agreed and well worth the money its costing although hoping they will be able to stand on their own after a while. We dont mind spending money this way as can afford it and means they have to stand on their own 2 feet rather than turn into non functioning person. I think it is very hard for that generation at the moment.
