Frozen Pie - eat or bin???

Hi,
Looking for some advice...
My mum gave me a lovely Chicken & Leek Pie from M&S which she got when they were on special offer. It's made with puff pastry and a cheese sauce. I put it in the freezer as we never got round to using it, but I just checked it whilst having a clear out of my freezer, and it says "Not suitable for freezing"!!
Would you risk eating it? It seems a waste to throw it away, but I am thinking that because it's chicken I should not take the risk.
What do you all think?
Thanks in advance

Depends on why it says that....
Could be because the pie (or parts of it, like the pastry) were previously frozen, in which case it's not a good idea to eat it.
Could also just be a quality issue, maybe the cheese sauce separates after freezing and it just looks unappetising or compromises the quality - but is not unsafe to eat.
Unless you're starving I'd personally put it down to experience and bin it.. I hate wasting food though. You could try ringing their customer careline (might be a number on the box) to check why they advise not freezing it, then you can decide for yourself....If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I am really fussy with safety when cooking food but even I would use it. I would defrost it in the fridge and then cook it for a bit longer than stated. I would think the worst that would happen is that the sauce separates or something.

A lot of these things are marked "Not suitable for freezing" because they they do not look as appetising when they are thawed.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Cooked long enough and hot enough any nasty bugs would be destroyed so make sure its piping hot and tuck in,coming from Marks its bound to be tasty

Many products deteriorate when frozen/defrosted by breaking down, losing texture or flavour etc. I would not worry from a food poisoning aspect though.Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!0 -
"I would take it back and ask why it's not made with chicken & leek!
"
Ha ha. Very good! I like it.
Thank you all for your advice. I think I will give it a go then. I don't really mind what it looks like, so I think I will take the chance.0
