morning everyone thanks for the start scarlet I’m off out to a cleaning job soon it’s still warm here but a nice temperature not red hot I will still be pleased when I’m finished today I feel tired this week I’m blaming the heat . Pasta for tonight nice and easy I’m not missing cooking as much in this hot weather we have had a lot of easy meals . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning folks and thanks Scarlet.

The temps have been much more bearable as the week has gone on thankfully. Still no hosepipe.ban here so yesterday the pots got a good soaking and a feed. Sadly some look beyond redemption but I live in hope!

I did a little wander down the track to assess the blackberry situation. I was amazed to see a few smaller ones were already red. Almost a month before the usual ripening date for hereabouts! But very small thanks to lack of rain I suppose.

hello everyone

I got all excited because I smelt rain, then looked and there were about 6 drops!! Yesterday was humid again but should be cooling slightly again today.

Had a big walk early yesterday and saw three hares (my favourite wild animal) in the stubble fields. Then started chopping a hedge - was actually pleased when the trimmer’s battery died as my shoulders ached. Loads of chores in the afternoon and then I was too tired to do anything else - didn’t get any craft work done so will have to remedy that.

Good morning

Very cloudy here and temperatures down on yesterday, it was hot but thankfully a brisk breeze helped clear the air.

I will try to carry on with my cleaning today, it's been put on hold the last couple of days, apart from the usual vacuuming. DH is going to pick up a parcel so will pop into Aldee for me. It'll be interesting to see what he comes home with, although I give him a list he usually adds to it, like the time I asked for a tin of beans and he came home with 4. There's still 3 in the cupboard.

Pork chops or sausages for tea, unless he brings home anything else.

Alot cooler this morning. It was sticky hot yesterday so didn't get alot down with the moving things for Monday's onslaught so will do some. more today while it's still quite cool.

@remmie During Covid DH would do the weekly shop with a list and he would come home with things not on the list as we already had enough. Beans were his go too also!

Nothing else going on here so have a good day all x

Morning all, thanks Scarlet.It has rained a bit during the night and still feels drizzly.We left one of Ldogs blankets outside so thats inside drying off now.

@YorksLass , definitely have trouble with ring pulls and tins, and some bottles too! Yes glad to have the admin out of the way.

@newroadahead ,shame about the camper.Hope the repair goes ok.We had a lovely stay in Bergerac a few years ago.

Once my delivery comes, DH is taking me to pick up DGD from DS2. She wants what we call a 'gran day', which usually involves me paying for her primarni purchases 😉We'll catch the bus to the next town, hopefully quieter as it isn't market day. DS wondered why we aren't waiting for DGS to get back from holiday but I know he was a bit fed up last time- trailing round the shops really isn't his thing. I've said we'll do something else with him instead.

Had a lovely catch up with my oldest friend yesterday, but the prices seem to have shot up at the place we often go to on the retail park . I may get to see her again before our DGC go back to school and pick up duties resume, we stayed out longer than usual instead of rushing back .

Morning all

Bright and sunny here again and meat to get very hot again, yesterday was up to 31 although that’s not as hot as before thank goodness.

My sister and I are off to mums for a quick meeting this morning, mum has agreed to have respite in a home while we are both away, we were so worried that she would fall or not eat anything, she was a bit reluctant so I had to go a bit bad cop on her and very firmly told her that we needed a break and that we would worry all the time we were away, there is a care provider coming today to discuss.

Dinner tonight is some breaded chicken in wraps with salad, I got some GF breadcrumbs so I will make them when I get back and cook later.

My dd has her friends little boy for the night tonight her friend is at her brothers wedding and asked dd if she would have him, he is going to the ceremony and a bit of the afternoon then dd will pick him up, he is a delightful little lad only 2 and lots of fun so I am looking forward to seeing him.

I have booked the chimney sweep for next week so that will be ready for winter.

Morning all, thanks for the start off @Scarlet. And thanks also to @NRA for the offer of info about the jar/tin opening gadget. I made some gripper covers from an old pair of rubber gloves that seem to work for jars (just circles cut from the gloves) but I'm always wary of the tin lids springing back and me ending up with slashed wrists!

It's another settled weather day, perhaps a little bit cooler but more comfortable for working. I spent yesterday morning mainly outside sweeping the patio and cleaning in general, then used up my last sachet of weed killer on a really stubborn patch of weeds. In the afternoon I made a start on reconciling DS's expenses paid against payments received - so far, so good - and will do a bit more today. Tea tonight is chicken curry with rice, prawn crackers and apricot chutney for sides.

I've received a message via Patchs for a telephone appointment next week with a clinical pharmacist from a Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism clinic to discuss medications but won't be available for it so I rang the GP surgery to let them know. Apparently it is affiliated to the NHS but it's nothing to do with the surgery so I'm thinking it's one of those research set-ups with potential participants having been identified through data sharing. I may have questions to ask before taking part as I'm not willing to be a guinea pig and am perfectly happy as things are.

@TA - Lots of blackberries around here have already ripened enough for picking but, like you, I noticed they are on the small side.

@Ruby - Fingers crossed your discussion today for respite care goes well for all concerned.
