Morning again, it's sunny here, and warmish
I'm visiting one of my housebound friends this morning, she wants some shopping, nothing major, so I'll do that.
That's the main event really, today.
It's my youngest's birthday tomorrow, so I must transfer some money to him, he has something in mind for himself. I was just thinking this morning, I was making a chocolate cake when I realised I was in labour! I finished it then called my husband, who was at work, and a friend who was on standby to look after our other 2 children. Happy days!
Hope everyone is ok, and can have a good day
Take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks Scarlet.
I have been an intermittent poster this week as every day is much the same when I am at the caravan! A bit different to the early days when we were off and away every day tramping the hills and dales.
Yesterday turned out hotter than expected so rather uncomfortable in the 'van come evening and a tossy turney sleepless night was had. Today supposed to be cooler.
DD and family are due to fly to France next Wednesday but that depends on the terrible fires. They are staying with my DNiece who has a house near Limoges. It's currently safe there but that could change.
Have a good day folks if you can with gentle hugs for all in need. Take care all x

Morning all
A hotter day today so will do what I want to do this morning while it's cooler. Will start with emptying a display cabinet as Monday is the day the workmen will be coming to replace our lounge/dining room/kitchen floor. Will be stuck upstairs or in the garden all next week as they think it could take nearly 2 weeks as they have to rip up skirting boards too to lay the floor and then replace and paint any damage. Dreading it!!
Right, up and at 'em! Have a good day all x

Morning all
Nice and sunny here and set to be warm again, I am off to mums this morning to do a few jobs and cook her a couple of dinners.
When I leave there I’m going straight to collect my shopping, I thought I would do it a day earlier than usual and then I can have tomorrow free for pottering at home and in the garden, I cut all the bedding plants back so it will be interesting to see if it helps them bounce back.
Dinner tonight for OH and I will be spag Bol which is cooked and in the freezer, I will just need to cook some pasta to go with it, dd is working a late shift.
I will run the hoover round later and have a quick tidy through.
Have good days all and take care xx

morning everyone thanks for the start scarlet I couldn’t get on here yesterday morning and by the time I could it was to late the good news is you missed nothing of interest. I’m off out to do a cleaning job soon I’m going later today as she had friends staying last night and by the time they are all showered and had there breakfast I wouldn’t be able to get on it’s only a one off . It’s very dull but warm I’ve just hung towels out no rain forcast although they said that yesterday and we had the tiniest bit not enough to do the gardens or anything else any good . Chirsca I feel for you i remember having ours done but think positive 14 days and it will be all over and done with. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning all, thanks Scarlet.
Yesterday morning I finally finished the admin/printing out invoices for DS accountant so we decided to drop them off, he is taking a few days off to redo his patio before DGS gets back off hols. Ldog had a lovely run around his big back garden. After we decided to have a walk in the fields near our old home as we were halfway there. We parked near the old church and walked down to the fields, they needed cutting. We met a man who was snipping the brambles to clear the path. By then it was getting very warm so we took a short cut back to the car. Interesting, our house didn't seem to have changed much but some had had refurbs etc. Late lunch back at home then sat at the back reading.
Today am meeting my oldest friend for lunch. I have taken some previously cooked beef and chorizo stew out for tea- prob not the best choice if it gets warmer later😊
TA, we spent some time in the Limoges area a few years ago, I hope your DD isn't caught up in the wildfires. I feel so sorry for all the people affected everywhere.
Take care all.

A joy to open windows again .

Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for today's start off.
I think we're in for another good weather day, it's already sunny and warm with a gentle breeze and temperatures somewhere in the mid-20s. I need to have a look at my patio door as it's getting very stiff to open and close. I'll oil the hinges first but, if that doesn't work, it could be the draft proofing strip that's come out of its groove and needs pushing back in. While I'm at it I'll vac the inside of the frame while the door is open - lots of squished bugs in there, not to mention cobwebs.
Does anyone else have problems opening ring-pull cans? Yesterday I made curried tuna mayonnaise sandwiches at lunch time and really struggled to open the tin. I know my elderly fingers aren't quite as agile nowadays but honestly …… 🤨
It shouldn't be too much longer until my NDN moves house, maybe another 3-4 weeks or so. She and her partner are on the last push to finish the decorating and he's been busy putting up a fence around the back garden. I hope it's a tall one - their dog is huge, especially when it stands up on its hind legs. They've been good neighbours over the years and I hope the new people will be the same.
Tea tonight is salmon in a sweet chilli sauce with baby potatoes, peas & sweetcorn. Good news - I have one empty drawer in the freezer! 😆 I wonder how long that will last?
Happy birthday to your DS @Scarlet.
@TA - I hope your DD and family do manage to get to France but those fires are a worry, the TV footage is dreadful.
@Chrisca - That's going to feel like an awfully long two weeks - hold on to the thought it will all be worth it.
@Rosy - Well done on tackling the admin/invoices. DS's last job was on a self employed basis and I've his expense claims to reconcile with what the firm have reimbursed. Shall we say their accounting leaves a lot to be desired 🙄
@Suffolksue - I'm sending you my very best wishes that all goes well next week and a swift recovery afterwards.
Right, time to get moving. Take care all, have a good day and a wave to our missing. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Yes YL I have bother with ring pulls too. For some reason the smaller tins are the worst culprits. I lever them back with a spoon handle through the ring x

Afternoon All ( that should really be bonjour)
Scarlett thanks for the start.
SS hope all goes well for you.
YL a friend bought me a device that opens jars and has another notch on it to help with tins. I will see if I can find it on Am**** and let you have the details.
TA I hope your DD manages to get here. We travelled down last Friday to Tours stayed overnight at a hotel and arrived in the Dordogne on Saturday.
It was quite surreal on the drive down as it was very windy and smoke from the fires near Bordeaux were in the air.
We are about half hour from Bergerac. Unfortunately on the way down a lorry kicked a stone and a crack appeared in our rented minivan. Long story short we now another van but only until tomorrow. Apparently things take longer here in France to repair even though the van is a Renault. I spent 6 hours on phone calls on Monday trying to sort things. Will be more relaxed when we get UK fan back. Apologies for the essay.
Hope everyone is keeping well and coping with UK heat. It is currently 36 here and could hit 40, very appreciative of air con.
Hugs to all who want them, take care
