Morning all.
A brief visit from me as we're off on a narrow boat all day today. 24 of us from one of my Morris sides have hired 2 boats on the Grand Union and are stopping off to dance at various places en route. Currently up early to make sandwiches for lunch and then drive to the marina.
Hope everyone has a super Sunday

Morning again, it's rained here! Not heavily I don't think ,but still, rain!
We didn't go out yesterday, Dh didn't feel well, he brightened up as the day went on though. We can go another day.
Dgd will be arriving today to stay for a few days, the family are staying at their cottage in Weardale for most of the holidays, and of course her friends are here.
It'll be same old same old today, bit of housework, cooking, general tidying. I noticed last night when I was watering plants that some of the bedding is starting to look a bit tired, despite watering, feeding, and deadheading. The hostas in the front garden are massive though, and the hydrangea is looking pretty good. It's North facing so it suits them, they don't get the full force of the sun.
Hope you enjoy your caravan holiday TA, and Dp1 hope you have a great time.
Have a good day if you can everyone, whatever you're up to today, take care folks.

Good morning, thanks for kicking us off Scarlet.
It's dull and drizzling and sounds breezy, yesterday turned out to be quite windy, so much so we closed the windows in the evening, not done that for a few weeks. According to the forecast we will hit 33degs mid week. We certainly get a mixture of weather.
This morning I'm off shopping, I also have a couple of parcels to return, at the local Ad*a, not my favourite supermarket but will have a look around there.
There's some cooked lamb in the freezer so I may do a roast later, just need to get some veg. Last night we had bbq pork steaks.
@WickedLady4 enjoy your boat trip, I wish I was closer I'd love to watch the dancing.
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning all
We had rain! Well not much but it was a surprise to see some small puddles on the ground this morning. I doubt that the flowers and veggies have really benefited though.
Fingers firmly crossed for a peaceful day; yesterday DM got ‘stuck’ in the bath ie couldn’t get out. Tired herself trying and after various phone calls to 111 they suggested 999, so we had paramedics here. She was in it nearly 5 hours in the end but they got her out and did the usual checks. Then had to take her to the out-of-hours GP at the local hospital in the evening as the ambulance staff were concerned about a slightly raised temperature. She’s got high strength antibiotics just in case though there weren’t any huge infection markers. All the NHS staff were wonderful but it was a tiring day for all. She’d just got into bed and then managed to spill tea over herself and the bed - I could only laugh at that point 🤣 cos I was so tired.
Suffice to say that they might now take my suggestion of a walk in shower a bit more seriously!!
Hope everyone has a lovely day

Morning all - and thanks @ScarletRibbons for the thread. I took out all the huge hostas from here when I moved in, they were just a magnet for slugs, the leaves ended up looking like lace doilies, and I hated that long stick of a flower!
I've slept a bit later, probably making up for Friday / Saturday.
@camelot1001 reminded me about the Fire Service providing fire / heat alarm so I braved the glitchy website and finally was able to complete the form. It seemed to jump around, backwards and forwards in a random way. Anyway, I'm 'eligible' for a visit so will wait to hear from them. Two errant alarms are outside in the garden, think that they've been up about 10 years so that's par for the batteries to start to fail.
The overnight rain has battered my lovely hookeri almost flat, poor things, they won't last too much longer. The new plants are with Alan for me to collect this coming week.
Your dancing boats sounds so fabulous @WickedLady4 - I hope that it all goes well.
What a palaver for everyone @AlwaysAllie, and yes, I would trust that a walk in shower is arranged soon. My DM resisted one for a few years until I got cross with her about making life difficult, not only for herself but for many others who had to come to help. The shower was the best thing for her (and me and the neighbours and the emergency services). The company fitted it in the footprint of the bath so not much hassle.
Enjoy the peace today @IzzyBee. @remmie - funnily enough I have never shopped at As''' nor felt the urge to.
Today may come fine, I'll see what it brings. Take care all. xx

Morning all
It’s a bit overcast here and a small chance of rain before 11 and then back to bright sunshine. My bedding plants are also looking a bit straggly I’ve tried cutting a few back to see if that spurs them on again.
I got dd a beautiful chest of drawers free on fb but someone had taken the original top off and put a cheap bit of ply on, we are going today to pick up a bit of oak also free and OH will make a new top for it and dd and I will rub the bottom down and re- paint it, it won’t be done today as dd is at work but maybe next weekend.
Bbq for dinner I will see if mum wants one again as she has some kind of cold/flu thing and she just won’t eat if we don’t cook, my sister made her sandwiches for her tea on Thursday and they were still there yesterday 😩
I have washing on the go so will hang that out shortly.
AA I hope your mum is ok definitely time for a walk in shower.
Yorks lass sending hugs xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Hi everyone,
We have a slight chance of rain today but I'm not holding my breath, the garden looks like a wasteland and although we need rain if it's too heavy it will just bounce off the rock hard ground.
Laura and Brian and the children look to be enjoying the Womad festival, they are camping with about 20 of their old London friends so I hope it's all gone ok.
Steve had a phone call from his heart dr, he needs an angiogram so we've decided to put our plans to go to Italy on hold because of the difficulty of getting meaningful travel insurance, we're trying to decide where to go in thei country instead. I don't know if I said that we discovered he'd had a heart attack at some point and a little bit of his heart muscle is dead. He seems absolutely fine and we would no doubt still be in ignorance if he hadn't had a bad reaction to the statins he was put on last year.
AA, how distressing for you all. Mum and dad had a shower over their bath and dad (who was a bodger supreme) cut an opening in the bath and sealed it so that they could step through rather than over the side. They had been approved for a wetroom courtesy of SS but by the time it was ready to be installed they were both dead!
RR, I hope your mum is feeling better, that's one of my biggest fears, becoming a worry and a burden to the children, especially as they will be the squeezed middle having children so late.
Have a good day.

Morning all, we have rain, on and off all during the night and this morning. No watering today 😉 Think we'll have to wait until later for the dog walk, he doesn't like rain..
WL, enjoy your canal trip, sounds good.
YLass, sorry things are difficult at the moment.
Allie, your poor Mum, hope she's none the worse today. We have a walk in shower and a bath that only gets used by me now and again. I wish we'd age proofed the model when we moved here 11 years ago & got one with handles or something as it can be tricky to get out of. It was more about the look of it back then!
I've put a small chicken in the sc for later, a lucky choice given the weather. DH bought a pud for himself for later when he went for fuel yesterday.I made a curry for us last night. DS1 was still at the wedding. I've just been looking at the lovely photos he took. The bride is from the Ukraine and the groom made a good attempt at part of his speech in her language, which was nice.
Right better go and do something useful whilst it's cooler 😊Have a good day all.
