Could be another lovely day, we're not used to it here!
Half of the big bed at the side of my garden is now weed-free, my gardener (Helen) worked hard for two hours and will be back in two weeks to tackle the other half. I've ordered three inula hookeri plants to fill the space though they won't be with me for at least two weeks.
This morning I'm going up to the big town to collect the last of the re glazed glasses. I needed the new ones before handing this pair in so it's back I go. I've got my jeans in the washing machine and will hang them out before I leave, it's great drying weather.
Lately I've had a lot of butterflies coming into the house (front door open a lot), it's very strange. At one point yesterday there were four fluttering around and that was after Helen captured and released one earlier. My strategy is to quickly close the blind so that they are swerved past the window light and, mostly, they find the front door again. Sometimes one doesn't and ends up in one of the upstairs rooms which is more tricky. I reckon that there must a 'nursery' close by and these are all hatching.
Have a great day all - enjoy the last few days of the heat! I'm not looking forward to the return of the cold. Hugs all round xx

Morning @Gers Morning all
Well the excitement is all over on the footie front :-( Will have to wait for another 4 years now!
Another warm and windy day expected here. I wish that wind would go away, getting boring now.
Well double glazing all done and am pleased with the result. Just got to learn how to lock and unlock the front door now. Security lock is good but why does it have to be so complicated. My poor brain can't cope!
Housework downstairs today to clean up the mess left behind. It's been neglected for over a week now knowing it wasn't worth doing properly until the work was done.
Hope everyone has a good day xx

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad your gardener could sort out the weeds, pesky things!
Lovely day yesterday with the little one although it did get rather hot. We went and picked peas (well, she ate peas) and dug potatoes for the neighbours, went to the library to make paper hedgehogs and played in the paddling pool for about an hour and yes, I did linger in there for quite some time! The little one was floating about with a snorkel and mask pretending to be an underwater explorer. Thanks for the tip dp1, I'll give it a go.
Hope your treatment is working Ruby.
Good on your DS TA, what a good lad.
You'll be glad of your new double glazing in the winter Chrisca.
Bedding is in the WM and the paddling pool is filling again although it's a bit misty out this morning, hopefully the sun will arrive soon.
Take care and keep cool. XX

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another cloudy start but, like yesterday, the sun is forecast to appear shortly and still very warm.
I'm not mentioning the football so today is another day of same old same old. I'll address a few jobs this morning and then sit in the sun for a little while reading. I've really gone through my stockpile of books this summer and will shortly need a browse in the charity shops to replenish my stocks.. I'm down to about a dozen books now and none of them are really grabbing me.
Have a good day folks if you can and hoping the poorlies are on the mend. Take care all, be safe x

Morning all
Another nice day in store still windy though but it does help to cool things down a bit.
I am off to mums this morning she has a shopping delivery coming and an order from the butchers so I will put it all away and cook her a lunch and make her a tea up for tonight, I will do some washing too, afterwards I will go straight to pick up my shopping and get that put away.
Not sure about dinner tonight, I may do a prawn cocktail with some bread, dd is working a late so just OH and I bee for dinner.
Dogs will need a short walk later, big dog has had two short ones and seems to be coping with it, little dog would walk for hours but it’s just too hot atm.
My tablets seem to have kicked in and I feel so much better thank goodness.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Not sure when I last posted but I’m back from Cyprus. The family adopted a kitten whilst I was there - 6 weeks old - was left in our garden by the feral Mum. She’s very cute but we also have DS1’s dog atm as they are away at a wedding. Lots of door shutting going on!
DH and I plan a day in the garden today as it looks cooler. I have been bitten alive so need to spray myself before I go out there.
Glad the AB’s are kicking in @RedRuby1231 xHave a good day all

Afternoon all, a later one than normal from me today. I could have sworn I posted yesterday but no, I can't have done. No matter, there wasn't anything of importance to tell nor is there today really.
Like yesterday, it was a cloudy start this morning but the sun soon broke through and it's now about 26 deg outside. I've been on weed patrol (again) but have had to come back inside because it's getting too hot for me. It doesn't seem to be bothering the workmen who are replacing the guttering on one of the houses over the road, they're as brown as berries but I do hope they've got their sunscreen on.
Yesterday's top-up shop was confined to just milk, cherry tomatoes and a TV guide but I did pick up a YS bottle of peri-BBQ sauce as well for 71p. Dinner was chicken curry & rice and tonight it's a no-cook/picky meal to use up odds and ends, including some of the leftover cheese & broccoli frittata from Tuesday. I also made a coffee & walnut cake and there are choc ices and cornets in the freezer so that's afters taken care of. Despite buying a TV guide every week, I hadn't realised The Great British Sewing Bee had started again 🙄 but I expect it will be streaming on i-Player so I'll catch up in due course.
@Ruby - Glad the tablets have kicked in and you're feeling a bit better now.
I hope everyone's having a good day, hugs for the poorly ones. Take care. xx
