I want to buy a printer for minimal use and has reasonably priced ink

I want to buy a new printer, its just for printing labels for Ebay (perhaps 8 or 9 times a month) and the occasional letter.

I have an HP inkjet at the moment and after a few years of being great it has become problematic nearly every time I want to use it.

I dont want to spend a fortune as its not going to be used daily and I want to be able to buy ink without a contract (at the moment a cartridge cost me £17 and lasts about 4-5 months of use).

Ive looked at Argos and on Amazon but they never say how much the ink costs. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one please.

I can't comment on a cheap printer, but at work we bought a Canon Maxify GX7000 which does a lot of printing. The inks are really cheap as they are refill bottles which dispense into a tank, so are very easy to use.

There is probably a smaller printer in the range, just look for the refillable inks.

We replaced a HP printer that had been great for years, but the moment we swapped to compatible inks (due to cost) it became problematic. So our cost saving on ink had been a poor decision in the long run. Hence we bought a printer that had cheap genuine inks

Possibly overkill for your use, but I bought a Brother MFC-L2800DW multifunction laser printer (like this) last year. It was about £140.

An XL toner cartridge is about £40 and prints 2-3000 pages, so about 2p a page. We're still on our first one. The standard cartridge is £30 and prints about 1000 pages, so 3p a page.

I see Argos offer a couple of Brother laser printer-only devices (no scanner etc.) starting at around £100, for example:

That's a bit of a milestone - a laser printer (from a manufacturer that you've heard of) for less than £100.

I have the Brother one at under £100 from Currys awhile back, they have an HP £10 cheaper.

I have an Epson Ecotank. It doesn’t use cartridges, instead you top it up with ink. I find it very economical on ink. I top up the ink a lot less than I would replace cartridges.

In terms of printing labels to post items on Ebay, you don't need to do this. Once you have created a label you can just take the QR code to the Post Office or print it in Evri stores. How many letters do you send, is it worth forking out for a printer? This is a moneysaving forum after all, just giving u more options.
