I've an old pair of Timberland boots the yellow ones. I'm reluctant to pay the silly price for the recommended soap and brush kit to remove scuffs etc.
Any cheap home remedy suggestions?

Do you have any sort of shoe brush? Or any brush you might use on them? Toothbrush or nailbrush perhaps?? Or a veggie scrubby brush???
A quick google suggests cleaning them with warm soapy water using the brush to loosen dirt. Deeper cleaning might be achieved by using vinegar (that chip shop smell!!) and/or bicarb (be prepared for the fizz!!!)
Once you get them clean and they've thoroughly dried they will need a conditioner. Timpsons likely have a suitable product like Dubbin or mink oil - they'll likely be able to recommend what is best.
