Requesting a backdated default?
I'm after some advice to help repair my credit history now that my DMP is coming to an end. I moved onto a DMP back in mid-2020 due to a combination of increasing debt and Covid related financial issues. Initially the DMP was to last for 5 years but due to the soaring cost of living I had no choice but to lower my monthly payments which meant that I won't have completed the DMP until 2028.
The majority of my credit accounts were defaulted in 2020 and 2021, so as I understand things, the time is approaching that they will drop off my credit report, even though I am still paying off the balances. However, two of the accounts were never defaulted and simply show as missed payments and have done every month for several years. One of them was settled late last year and does show as settled now.
My concern is that although the defaulted accounts are all due to drop off over the next 12 months, these two won't and will sit there for several years yet. Having done a bit of research it has been suggested that I write to both lenders and request that they register backdated defaults, quoting some ICO guidance on Data Protection Guidelines for Credit Reporting.
Before I go down this route I was just after a bit of advice if possible please? Is this a sensible course of action to take?

Yes. It doesn't always work, but it is the best chance that you have,
