S'bury Organic Chicken Breast - difficult to leave a review

I bought this yesterday (Nectar discount) - stir fried it and it was tough, woody and tasteledss. Anybody else found this?

I also found it impossible to leave a review, even though I can log in to S'bury. Tomorrow I will take back the remaining chicken breast with packaging and receipt and get a refund.

Awful product.

I also found it impossible to leave a review, even though I can log in to S'bury. I don't use S'bury, but I've found retailers can be picky on reviews.

Asda used to publish, warts & all, but seem to have recently changed & purged, so the reviews are not reflective of customers any more, just edits

Maybe S'bury are fed up with poor reviews on the chicken so stopped reviews? nothing would surprise me

I recently received a Sainsbury's savoy cabbage on my delivery and wanted to leave a review as to how awful it was. When I logged in I saw that all previous reviews, mainly complaining, had been removed and I was unable to add my own. As per @Farway's comment above, I'm of the opinion they were taken down deliberately. Incidentally, the savoy cabbages on my local store's shelves were also abysmal.

The issue might be down to the cooking/chef... That's the argument Sainsbury's could make.

I have more than once freaked out eating chicken as it has been ‘crunchy’, and I’ve gone into a panic thinking it wasn’t properly cooked (it was). I’ve no idea why this is the case but it’s not just you !

Organic chicken is naturally more tough as the chickens have space to move and grow actual muscles! It needs to be slow cooked or, if you want to do something like a stir fry, marinated to break down the toughness before cooking.

Thank you for all your replies - nice to know wasn't just me. I usually use S'bury free range TTD chicken - which is fine!

I agree about marinading - I didnot do that for this organic breast. Went back to store next day and got a full refund with a £5 gift voucher - so resolved - though I would have liked to leave a review.

BTW TTD free range S'bury chicken no long do boned chicken legs - have to go to Tesco for those! I am assuming that there wasn't the 'demand'.

There is something called "woody breast" as a result of chicken muscle being grown too quickly.

I've started buying slower to grow chicken and thats been better so far

Exactly how it ate - woody breast! Will always buy free range and S'bury freerange is fine but they stopped selling boned, skinned chicken thighs so go to Tesco for them. (Good for slow cooking.)

I bought some on the knockdown shelf. I marinated and cooked it on the barbecue. It was delicious
