Morning All
Very warm again this morning although there was some cooler air when I got up at 5 so opened all the downstairs windows for a while. Everything is closed up again with blinds drawn, it seemed to help yesterday.
Our fun day at school was exactly that - the children had a ball and it was all finished off with ice cream. I was shattered by the time I finished!
I had to go shopping after work as my cousin and her DH are coming up today if the trains are still running, looking forward to seeing them but their timing could have been a bit better.
Must dash so will wish you all well, stay safe in this heat. Take care. XX

Morning Gers and all to follow
Another hot day in store, yesterday got up to 37deg in our garden 🥵 today is the same, I’m going to take the dogs out once I have finished my cup of tea before it gets too hot, I shall give them a quick walk around the park and then home to where it’s cooler, they did not go out yesterday as it was just too hot when I got home.I washed the heavy winter duvet yesterday and put it on the line, it was dry within an hour 😳 I’m going to do another one today might as well make use of the good drying weather.
Dinner tonight will be sliced cold chicken left from the other night and I shall make some coleslaw and maybe a few new potatoes or a pasta salad, I just can’t bear eating anything hot.
We have a social worker coming to mums this morning to see if we can get her a bit more help, we would like someone to come in daily in the evening to heat her up a meal and do a couple of jobs that she can’t do herself such as hanging the washing or taking the bin out, she just won’t eat unless a meal is put in front of her, and she has been chucking food away and pretending to eat 😩 there may not be the money in the pot to help her but it’s worth a try.
I have my shopping to collect afterwards and I will do a quick run around with the hoover, it’s too hot for much more.
Stay safe in the sun everyone xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Good morning
Another hot one forecast, although thunderstorms are predicted overnight.
Not much happening here apart from laundry, making the most of the drying weather. And keeping big dog cool, poor boy doesn't understand why he can't go out for his 3 mile walk.
Something with salad tonight for me, DH will still eat hot food so I'll just throw something in the air fryer for him.
@RedRuby1231 I'll keep my fingers crossed you can get some help for mum x
Have a good day all, stay safe and keep hydrated.

Morning folks and thanks Gers. Another scorcher with temps still forecast for 30 deg. I have been a bit of a recluse these last few days, keeping indoors with the fan blowing. I used to lap up the sun but this last couple of years I have struggled in it. Something else to blame on old age apparently!
Today is the big day for youngest DGD. Prom Day! I am going down to theirs after lunch to see her in her glad rags and to take lots of photos. Her dress cost an arm and a leg but suggestions that she wear her sister's prom dress from last year didn't go down well at all. Forever a Barbie fan she was adamant she wanted a prink dress so that's what she got. I have to say though it's beautiful and really suits her.
I have lived off picky bits and salad these last few days, I knew all those little bags and packets of leftovers stashed in the freezer would come in useful one day!
Have a good day folks if you can, try to keep cool in the sun. Looking at the forecast we will be back to our usual mishmash of weather next week! x

morning everyone thanks Gers. It’s another hot one I’m off out to a cleaning job soon I will be finishing at 12 then I need to go to the library hopefully her house won’t be to hot but at least it will be cool in the library. TA I used to be first on the sun bed and last off when we went on holiday and I used to pray for the sun to be shining on my days off not anymore I burn as soon as I go out in it I’m like a vampire hiding from it . I won’t be doing much later it will be an easy tea whatever we are having there’s not a lot of cooking happening in here this week. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning two - today is when we get the heat and the sun. Yesterday stayed dull all morning then the clouds broke. My cleaner did a good job, I like coming home to a freshly tarted home. I decided to do the washing after all. When hanging it out I did a wee tour of my rogue strawberry plants and managed to find three un-nibbled fruits which I enjoyed. I bought some locally in a wee cafe yesterday, they were so sweet and juicy, so much more than the ones from a SM.
Today I plan to take the clean bedding to get ironed. The big roller machine at the dry cleaners does the job in five minutes and only costs 50p an item. Bargain I think. Then I may well sit outside for a wee while. I'm another one who used to enjoyed a spell sun-bathing - not too long as I got bored - and I remember using Ambre Solaire oil and, sometimes, even coconut oil. This was when I spent six months touring round Australia in the early 80s, wouldn't do either now.
Whether hiding from the sun or out there basking in it I hope that everyone has a good day. Pink frocks and all! Hugs all round. xx

Morning all
Another HOT one here today too. Watered the garden very early before I had my breakfast. Showered and did some ironing while it was still cool, plenty more still to do but little and often will be my motto!
Sitting out in the garden with a coffee now while it's cooler out there than inside. That will change in an hour or so and I'll stay indoors with the fans on!
Another salad day here too, will cook something to go with it and have that with the potatoes I grew in a pot and pulled up on Sunday. First time I grew them and it won't be the last. They've got a lovely flavour!
Hope you get some help for your mum @RedRuby1231
Keep cool all x

Morning everyone
I've been for my shopping, it's usually a Wednesday job but I was out all day yesterday. I've stocked up on fruit so ended up with 3 bags to carry…luckily I bumped into DD so she gave me a lift up home. Little one will be happy at the weekend as I bought a big bag of cherries, as well as strawberries, grapes, melon and peaches. I'll take some down for my mam tomorrow too, it's not worth taking too much at a time as it is so hot in the care home.
I had a lovely day out with my friend yesterday, it was ok on the bus as all the windows were open. We had a lovely lunch and I brought home a huge raspberry and white chocolate scone for my tea, which I wasn't hungry for till after 7, so filling was lunch. We came home and sat in her garden for a bit with a cold drink, then I came back over and sat in my garden and read Sunday's paper and ended up being out till almost 9pm.
Redruby I hope you get some help organised for your mum x
TA it doesn't seem 5 minutes since your granddaughters were the same age as little one…I remember the excitement for prom and the fuss, especially with youngest DD or kept choosing the most, in my opinion anyways, inappropriate dresses!
Camelot I bet it was a huge sigh of relief when it was time for ice creams…we still have 3 weeks left at school.
Right I've had my cuppa so I'm going to make my lunch, then I'll hopefully put music onto the music player for my mam…I have it in files on my laptop so hopefully it works.
I hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all, phew 😥The only walk Ldog has had yesterday and today was to go out early and greet DS and DGS arriving in the van to pick DH up. I put his harness on so he thinks he's been out, we went to water next doors garden too. Last night we went to watch DGS play footie against an international team, from somewhere in America. It was actually ok, later time, with a bit of a breeze on a grass pitch. They split it up into 4 quarters so they could get plenty of drinks in, or 'hydration breaks' as now they call it in the world cup. I suppose they didn't feel they could cancel with them coming so far on a tour.
@TravellingAbuela , your DGD sounds like she looked lovely in her pink dress.
I've just had a short trip to As*a to stock up on cordial and canned drinks, and a fly spray. It was wonderfully cool inside the store. @dp1 , I got a lift too 😀Hope you get the music sorted for your Mam.
@Gers my mum used to rub us with olive oil when we were young !
Well, more washing to deal with so I'll wish you all a good day.I'll sit in the garden after while it's shady.

Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers.
Yesterday was hot, hot, hot and I was wilting, despite doing as little as possible. It wasn't just the heat, there didn't seem to be any air at all. Today might be slightly more bearable as the thermometer should only be registering 29 deg at its hottest. 😳 And there is a light breeze. Nevertheless, I'll not be outside much otherwise I'll end up looking like a boiled lobster!
Like everyone else, I'm doing as little cooking as I can and have changed what we were going to have tonight in favour of some fresh fish. I've already cooked a pan of baby spuds to make potato salad to go with it along with peas & sweetcorn. I bet the shops are doing a roaring trade in salad, fruit, ice cream etc. I do need a couple of bits and pieces myself but am in a dither as to whether to do that today or tomorrow. I haven't anything else in mind that must be done today so will play it by ear. The primary school over the road is having their sports day this afternoon so might have a wander over to watch. Meanwhile, DS has been called in for an appointment at the Job Centre this morning - I'm not confident it will be a useful exercise but we'll see.
@Ruby - Good luck with the social worker this morning, I hope he/she can come up with some helpful suggestions for your mum.
@TA - Here's wishing your DGD a wonderful Prom Day in her pink dress. You'll be wondering where all those years have gone!
Right, I'm off to sit outside in the shade for a coffee break while I have a think about what to do next. Stay safe in the sun, drink lots of water and blow the housework for another day! 😁 Take care all. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9
