Thanks for everybody's advice so far, I am feeling less stressed and more in control already.

It feels weird intending to ignore them, almost feels illegal somehow.

Its just how the system works, if you engage with lenders, they may then offer payment plans, reduced interest for a short period, basically they will try to keep you from defaulting as they then retain you as a customer.

That`s not really going to be any use to you, so for you to engage with them, just complicates matters.

This way, the debts default, will most likely get sold, and that will open up the best potential settlement deals later on.

Work out a budget using your savings and any other income you can get until next year, by maintaining and amending the budget you should feel even more in control.

Well the 30 days breathing space is over, and the phone calls and emails have started. Have managed to change my contact details for most to a different email and number, which makes them easier to ignore. I still can check what they sent but don't get the constant notifications.

However Vanquis have sent the following, which I'm furious about:

We’re arranging a home visit to you - Here’s what you need to know

    Your account ending: xxxx

    We haven’t heard from you!

    Hi , it's Vanquis

We’ve been trying to speak to you but we haven’t been able to reach you. Your account is still in arrears and we want to help stop your arrears increasing.

We’re getting ready to use Resolvecall:

So we can reconnect with you and offer you support with paying your arrears, we’re now looking to arrange a home visit to you by our trusted partner Resolvecall.

    Here’s what will happen:

    • Before this visit, they’ll reach out to you with more information on how to get back in contact with us.
    • During the visit, the Resolvecall representative will work with you to get in touch with us so we can support you in getting back on track.

What can I do if I don’t want to be visited by Resolvecall?

If you’d prefer not to have a home visit, you can check the ways to pay your arrears or call us and use our 24/7 automated payment service (option 1 when you call).

Or if you’d like to discuss your situation with us and find out how we can help, please call our Customer Services Team on 0330 099 3000. We’re open from 8.30am to 7pm, Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm on Saturday.

    How we can help
We have a range of options to help you get back on track. We’ll ask you about your income and outgoings, and anything else that will affect how much you can pay and when you can pay it. This will help us to work out which option is right for you.

Alternatively, if you’re struggling with your finances and would like to seek free and impartial money guidance/debt advice, please visit our website for information about various not for profit debt advisory services that may be able to help you - Support Beyond Us? - Vanquis

We look forward to helping you.

    The Vanquis Team

No way am I entertaining a home visit, and this feels like a threat. I don't think they are allowed to do this.

Resolvecall have as much power as next door's kitty. They have no right to anything and have no right to be on your property.

It's just bluff designed to mask their powerlessness and to instil uncertainity.

Just tell them to trot off, as politely or otherwise, as you choose.

If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

II don't think Breathing Space helps at all in the vast majority of cases.

You can easily ignore Resolvecall. They are a waste of time as well

Yes I agree, treat as you would unwanted religious visitors, who want to re-connect you with the big "G" man.

Just one quick question, are any of your debts with your bank? You don't want them taking your lump sum via set off. If you do have a debt with your bank switch your account to one you don't owe anything too.
