                    I read somewhere a few months ago that the legal minimum holiday entitlement was to increase from 20 to 24 days at the end of last year. And to rise again to 28 in 2009... Not heard anything else sinse then, so was wondering what we should legally get working a 40 hour week on monthly pay...

 To offset the problem of including the 8 days of public holiday in employees’ paid leave, EU regulations will increase the minimum number of days of holiday entitlement from 20 to 28 in April 2009.
 Currently, regulations state that all employees within the European Union are entitled to a 20-day minimum of paid leave; however, some companies include 8 days of public holiday which effectively gives workers only 12 days of paid leave per year.             In fact since 1 October 2007 it has been 4.8 weeks a year which, for someone who works five days a week, equals 24 days.
 For example, if you only work 3 days a week, then 4.8 weeks equates to 14.4 days.0

 However, as I don't work mondays (I do Tues - Sat) I'm off monday's anyway. My boss's answer is "well were a 7 day business..."0

 You are currently, statutorily, entitled to at least 24 days holiday a year (including banks holidays - like Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years Day recently and there will be Good Friday coming up).
 If other people work five days a week - eg Mondays to Fridays or Thursdays to Mondays, presumably they get 28 days holiday including the bank holidays. If it is a seven day a week business, presumbably some of them have to work on some bank holiday Mondays. Do they get time off in lieu?
 If they do, you should get time off too.
 If you don't get time off in lieu of bank holidays, then your holiday entitlement (once the statutory minimum changes to 28 days) will not be legal.0

 Sorry for delay.. Yes, I actually get 28 days off. But as I'm off mondays, I feel like i'm loosing out having a Bank holiday monday awf...
 I have to work 3 of the 8 Bank hols we have. I normally choose Good Friday, Easter Monday and any other monday.
 Were a 7 day Business, however Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years day and Easter sunday were shut..............0
