Morning, thanks Gers - I didn't think it was a Bank Holiday today.

It's a quiet grey start today, without the chilly breeze that we get so often here.

I forgot to look back on yesterday, Hope everyone was all right.

We were busy at home, Dh was tidying the shed (again), we're going to have to move it when we get the new fence done in early July. I was just busy round the house. Today I'll pay a quick visit to a friend, and I thought I would shampoo our bedroom carpet. What an exciting life we lead! It's not as arduous as it may sound, I'll just do the main tread areas - it's pale grey, and not dirty as such, just needs a freshen up.

Morning Gers and all to follow

I’ve been awake since 4.30 🙄 it’s a mixture of the light mornings and the birds singing, also someone locally seems to have got chickens and they started clucking very early, I shall need a nana nap later.

I’m off to mums today to do some work and cook her a couple of meals, she will have washing to do as well and her kitchen will need a clean.

I’m not sure what we are having for dinner I will go and look after this, I have a gammon joint to cook so it may well be gammon egg and chips. DD is off today so she will walk the dogs later.

Yesterday we were sitting in the garden after dinner when a bird of prey came out of nowhere and dived into our hedge and came out with something in its claws and flew off, I couldn’t see if it had got a bird or a baby bird but it was a horrible thing to see, the whole hedge is full of birds which usually make a racket but they were eerily quiet for quite some time after.

The problem with my ear is still happening it’s kind of a flapping sensation and is driving me mad, the gp had referred me to a hearing clinic and he said to get the dentist to do an x-ray, Ive got the dentist in a couple of weeks so I hope they can give me some answers.

Morning All

Thanks Gers, sadly not a bank holiday in this council area although Glasgow were given the day off.

After a glorious day yesterday it's cloudy this morning but still quite warm. All the washing (5 loads) was dry and I even did the ironing and put the bedding back on. I have my cousin and her DH arriving next week so at least the bed is ready.

A few jobs done in the garden yesterday, ran out of steam so sat and read for a while until I woke myself up snoring! Hope the neighbours weren't out.

Work for the next week will be relentless so I'm glad I got organised for the week yesterday although I didn't manage to get to allotment 2 so will do that tonight.

Ruby & YL - I've only watered the hanging baskets once as it hadn't stopped raining!

Hope you can get your tooth sorted today WL. Has your DH's appointment been re-instated as the strike has been called off?

Morning folks and thanks GERS. No sun this morning just the ever present cloud cover. But it does feel warmer so that's a bonus at least. I think summer is passing us by this year.(again!)

Today a day of same old same old, doing what I can be bothered to do and ignoring what I can't.

Good morning

A dry but cloudy start here, showers maybe later. I have the opticians before lunchtime to check the eye I had the surgery on. Not holding out much hope as it doesn't seem to have settled down. The other eye took a few months to recover, the clinic said its my body's reaction to surgery.

I'll have a mooch around Asd* after the appointment, although there's nothing we need, but it's next door so why not?

Dinner tonight will probably be an all day breakfast, I cooked a chicken at the weekend but will probably freeze the remains as we've had a couple of meals from it and are getting fed up.

Morning again - yes, it's a peculiar BH in Scotland. Schools not all off but a lot of public services are closed. It's odd that governments are trying to cut down on drinking and yet give a day off to recover from a day of it!

Yesterday turned into a glorious day albeit with a nasty little wind which just wouldn't go away. I did snacks shopping, not much chocolate, and faffed about packing for mixed weather. Then I enjoyed watching 'Dial M for Murder' again. On Saturday I watched 'The Magnificent Seven' for the first time, so lovely to see all those well-known and long gone faces.

Today is final faffing, financial spreadsheets and looking forward to the week. I've a parcel to post to my dearest friend as I scooped up unwanted Herschel amenity kits from the plane and she loves all the lotions and potions. These ones also have a pair of socks which look identical to the M&S ones with coloured toes and heels.

Take care all, I'm back late Saturday afternoon as after I leave Perth I've booked on a short cruise round Loch Katrine on the Sir Walter Scott steamship. Odd, I know. My ex was enthusing about it when he was here recently so I decided to give it a go as I'll be in roughly the area.

morning everyone just a quick one I’m off out to meet my friend soon for a coffee and a catch up then it’s back through to sort out these new phones I’ve got everything we need ready hopefully it will be all sorted today I hate anything to do with technology. . Morning all. Woke up to drizzle, which is disappointing as I've washing to hang out.

@camelot1001 I'm seeing someone this afternoon about my tooth. Apparently my dentist is off sick today but I just want a bit of reassurance regarding what I can do until I see him. DH's op will be on Friday; I didn't know there was a proposed strike but we've readjusted things now so will go with the flow.

Other than that it will be ironing and a bit of food shopping. I feel I don't want to eat anything hard and crunchy atm so will plan accordingly. Hopefully I'll feel a bit more settled after I've seen the dentist this afternoon.

Yesterday's weather turned out to be much better than forecast. We had sun for most of the day and it was pleasantly warm with hardly any breeze; for a change - no rain! This morning it's cloudy and dry with light showers a possibility although there are glimmers of sun poking through from time to time.

Yesterday I used up the last Weetabix (not my favourite cereal) in a batch of chocolate brownies and also made up a tub of bulgar wheat from a bag that's been sitting in the cupboard for a fair while. Normally I buy couscous but at some stage I must have been tempted to have a change. After flavouring, it passed the taste test so it won't go to waste. 😁

Before I get around to anything today I have yet another change of circumstance letter from the council to get my head around. All to do with having an extra person living here (DS), increases in pensions, decreases in total capital etc that affect CT and rent payments. I've had so many of these letters over the last 18 months I've had to put them all in a separate ring binder; luckily I had a spare one floating around. The WM is doing its stuff with a load of tea towels and dishcloths that can go outside on the airer when it's finished and I've pulled some mince out of the freezer to make a SC chilli that we'll have tomorrow. Tonight it's salad. When DS arrived home at 8.30 this morning after his first night shift it felt like teatime to him whilst it was normal breakfast time for me. I think it's going to take some time for both us to adjust to a new routine.

@WL - Good luck at the dentist today.

@Ruby - 'Our' red kite is still in residence but doesn't always have its own way as some of the birds (crows, magpies and land gulls) sometimes give it a hard time although I've not seen it attack any of the smaller ones. Sorry your ear is still giving you grief and I hope your DM is OK.

@camelot - My hanging baskets are in a windy position so I suspect it's not just the sun that dries them out. I can normally tell when they need water by the weight of them - if light they need a good drink, heavy not so much.

@remmie - My right eye (first cataract op) healed very quickly so I was surprised when the left eye took a lot longer but it got there eventually - hopefully yours will too.

@Gers - Have an enjoyable week away.
