Morning, thanks Gers.
It's not a bad start here, grey, but cool and dry.
Happy holiday Chrisca.
Sorry to read that Mam and Dad are still not settled Dp1. Hope you have a good time at Lilidorei though. When dh was ok and we had a car we used to go up to Alnwick frequently but we don't go so often now.
There's a bit of shopping to do today, and the usual household jobs.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. The forecast says we should be having light showers but we're not - yet!! There's still time.
It's a much needed grocery shop with DS this morning. I've not been near a grocery shop for 2 weeks so a much needed fridge and fruit bowl stock up is needed. As usual I don't need anything for the freezer, other than bread stuff, but if I spot a too good to miss bargain I'll probably be tempted!
Later, if the rain does keep away, the back garden is still awaiting a tidy up and a de-weed. That may or may not get done!
Have a good day folks if you can. Dp1 I hope you have a lovely day away from your parent worries, you certainly deserve one. Take care all, be safe x

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you've got over the jet lag.
It's breezy and dry for now but I'm sure the rain isn't far away. We managed to squeeze in sports day yesterday afternoon thank goodness, just one small shower. I went up to watch the little one run her first race, she's always too busy laughing to win!
I was at a retirement do last night which was ok, caught up with a few folk I hadn't seen for a while, even had a glass of wine as a colleague picked me up.
Costco this morning then I'll take the little one to Ikea for her lunch as I have a voucher to use up, DD is going to have her nails done so I'll drop the little one at home to her Dad.
Sorry you're still having problems with your DM dp1, such a shame she's not settling. Enjoy your day out.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX

Looks to be a nice day here we have bright sunshine already which is lovely, dd went to work early this morning and OH is still in bed so all peaceful here.
I want to nip to the butchers this morning and get some minty lamb chops and I also have to go to another shop to pick up some dog food. Then housework to do but I might save that till tomorrow as I want to get out into the garden for a while.
Dinner tonight will be a bbq I think I will do some pasta salads to go with it and maybe a tomato and mozzarella salad.
OH will wash his work clothes this morning and then I can do the beds tomorrow.
Have a great holiday Chrisca xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Thanks for the start Gers, hope you’re feeling better.
Looks sunny out, and the wild wind has stopped - yesterday’s battered the roses 😔. I started weeding a patch of garden yesterday so will finish that, thought the ground would be harder but actually it was good. Only problem is it’s under roses and a curly hazel so need to be a contortionist!
I also need to find a way of stopping Bdog eating the unripe gooseberries that seem to have dropped off the bushes - he has an iron stomach but I’ve picked two thorns out of his head this morning - he’s a monster!
There’s a load of craft stuff to do too later.
Hope everyone has a good dayAA

Morning again - not sure if I'm suffering from jet lag or the effects of this cold / cough which is lingering on, or a combination of both. Certainly the infection seems to have intensified, probably because of the flight home. At least I slept right through the night though the morning coughing was fairly horrid.
On the way home on Wednesday I did enough shopping to last me until Monday as I'm going away again, nothing as exotic as Toronto. I watched the start of the football game from Toronto last night and enjoyed the drone views of it.
I'm eating a bought fruit salad for breakfast, most of it is lovely though I'm always disappointed to find apple. 😄
@WL - our beloved Grasshopper Hotel has been taken over, refurbished and launched as costing almost three times the amount!
Sorry that your parents are so unsettled @dp1, well done on an immediate offer on the house. My fingers are crossed for you on that one. Enjoy Lilidorei.
I hope that everyone has a good day despite the unseasonal weather. Hugs all round.

Morning all.
We got back from our stay in Somerset yesterday. It was a folk dance week at a venue we'd been to before and we knew the person running it. Numbers were a bit lower than hoped for, so only 24 of us there, including 2 couples from Canada, who had tagged it on to the end of their holiday. Unfortunately it got a bit stressful at times, with people feeling others weren't listening and doing what was asked and that came to a head on Saturday night, so a slightly uncomfortable ending I feel.
When we got back we found that DH's cataract operation, scheduled for this coming Monday, had been moved to Friday, so we've had to cancel a walk and pub lunch with friends that was booked for Friday. There's also a slight knock on in that he won't be allowed to exercise for 4 weeks afterwards so will just have to be a spectator at a couple of events, including a dance weekend in Pembrokeshire. It will be good to get it done and out of the way though.
Today I'm doing laundry and shopping but plan to watch Trooping the Colour on tv, for the first time in many years.
@Gers our beloved hotel! It was just right the way it was before; like a home from home. I'll look it up but I don't think the new place will be for me.
Better get going now. Best wishes to all.

Morning all, thanks Gers, hope you enjoyed Canada. I seem to have missed a few days so I'll read back later. Although we have DGS friendly match to watch in a bit and then we're going to an open air festival - it's still blowing a gale and the odd rainfall. Last week it was predicted to be scorching today ! Messed up what I was going to wear 🤔
Our lunch out in M/cr with ex Sis-i-law and her Dh was very enjoyable, although our train was delayed.Just about made it on time, the food was lovely. Had to take DGS for his dental xray yesterday, no delay there, all very efficient..
Right better see if Ldog will have a walk before we go out . Have a good weekend everyone. At least I don't need to bother with tea later. We used to take a picnic but the rules have changed- no food or drink to be taken in, no doubt rip off prices too! A good lunch after football before we go then 😉

Morning all, thanks @Gers. I think you've probably got a double whammy of cold and jet lag and I'm hoping you feel a bit better by the time Monday comes.
It's another rinse & repeat day of sunshine and showers here, still breezy (gusty at times), still cool. My view from one window is of blue skies and from another it's grey cloud. I need to pop out to the shop today for milk so I'll try to pick a dry spell for that but any laundry will go on the airer rather than outside..
Yesterday's admin turned into a longer session than usual because I was going through old paperwork (again) to see what could go. Bit of a pain but it's done now so I'm classing that as my 'extra' for the day. Not sure what today's will be but I'm sure I'll find something. 😁 Tea tonight will be a selection of picky bits, cheesecake for afters.
@WL - Sorry your holiday ended on an uncomfortable note, also that your DH's cataract operation has been moved to a day you had plans for.
That's it for now so I'll wish everyone a good weekend. Take care, help yourself to a virtual hug. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
late one from me today we took a 20 plus mile trip to the nearest town with a phone shop I know we probably could do this all on line but we haven’t got a clue hubby’s phone is 15 years old and he’s charging it a couple of times a day not that he uses it much but despite me reminding him a dozen times about what he need to take glasses wallet ID we got there the girl sorted it out he had left his wallet with ID in in the house my fault apparently for not checking he had picked it up so we are now going back Monday what a waste of a morning. Anyway the washing has dried it’s very blustery here and not that bright we were promised a nice day . Chrisca enjoy your holidays DP 1 have a great time in alnwick with little one I’m sure you will WL roll on Friday fingers crossed his op goes ahead . Gers I hope your nasty cough goes soon and you start feeling a bit more human . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing
