MSE Forum Poll: Do UK theme parks offer value for money?
If your stomach can stand it, a detour on the dodgems or spin on a rollercoaster can be part of a thrilling day out regardless of age.
But do the theme parks in the UK give you enough bang for your buck, or do you feel short changed by short rides, long queues, rubbish food and awful accessibility?

It's been a long time since I've been (would have been a child), I've always loved them, maybe cuz we couldn't afford them, we just envied other ppl most of the time, I think I've only been 3x, even now at 41 I know I would enjoy a ride. But the queues were always hideous, the whole day we could only do 4 rides in Alton towers. I don't expect better now, but at least I can go in quiet seasons. Never tried food there, we had to pack from home, it was too expensive.

All depends on how many rides you use.

As a merlin annual passholder yes, since I get my value through the pass and it's discounts and offers.
PS the image is a coaster based in Sweden not the UK

Well I recently took my Grandson to Diggerland in Durham. Tickets were a little bit pricey but the whole set up was excellent, lots of rides and fun for all ages, food was very reasonably priced, the place was clean and the workforce were really nice and engaging. 9/10 for me.

They are certainly expensive. If you go at quiet times using some of the online deals then they aren't too bad and my daughter enjoys going in the University holidays. In school holidays it can be a lot worse with big queues for everything.
The food is always overpriced and often not very good quality, but the business model is clearly to tempt you in with deals and then make the profit once you are inside.

i guess it depends, if your not bothered about the price and you go at a time where it is't busy then I guess it is but when you factor in price of food and going at busy periods which means you go on on less rides then no it isn't worth it. Use ways to reduce the cost then it's more worth it.
