Really gonna be Debt free

Have been lurking these boards for months now, had LBM last April, debts then stood at 17,000. Now just under 8,000. Although that sounds good, its really not, I still keep spending stupidly, and have 3 kids and a huge mortgage... God I'm boring myself already. If anyone has any tips for me I'll be greatful.

  • I think you've done really well:j :T :D

It would probably be a good idea ( if you don't already ) to put a bit aside so you can have a few treats, without feeling that you are spending stupidly or feeling guilty about it.
I don't know how hard it was for you to pay off as much as you have, but just like a diet, if you are too strict, you are bound to "cheat" & are more likely to give up because you've cheated already.
    Hope this makes sense :D

Well done on how much you have cleared already a really fantastic achievement :T

Is it worth keeping a spending diary so you can see in black and white where all your extra money goes, may shock you into stopping.

Recommend joining one of the challenges too as these are great for making you think before you spend anything.

That really is good, whether your spending or not.
I'm in quite a bit of debt myself (£7000) and could not even fathom having it paid it in the next three years.
    Well done!

  • Congratulations on clearing so much of your debt so quickly!

As of 1 Jan, I've started a spending diary, so I know where every penny goes - I even added in the penny I picked up in the supermarket car park yesterday! However, I have found that it's a great deterrent to frivolous spending. I still have two untouched ten pound notes in my purse from early last week, which is a miracle for me :)

Many thanks for all your lovely replies. :smileyhea I don't think I deserve them. I really have taken inspiration from all the brilliant people on this site, when I get my head round it, I will post a SOA, and then hopefully get advice on how to sort myself out. You've really hit the nail on the head Kizzy, that is so me.
