Morning all.
Just noticed that we hadn't a thread up for today so have started this before heading off to help at the Community Larder.
Hope Gers is still asleep in Toronto and everyone else is getting on with their day.

Morning folks and thanks WL. Fumble fingers here posting on my phone.
Arrived at our caravan yesterday afternoon after our detour for breakfast on the Embsay- Bolton Abbey steam train. A very pleasant way to pass the time whilst enjoying a lovely breakfast in the 1st class buffet carriage, lovingly restored to its former glory! We were surprised how busy it was.
Despite rain being forecast we had a lovely but windy day yesterday and I sat on the decking reading once I had unpacked everything. No sun as yet today but snippets of blue sky are emerging.
Have a lovely day if you can with "hugs" as always where needed. Gosh MEHEFIN talk about cutting it fine! I hope the quilt is finished in time. Take care all stay safe x

Morning all
Thanks for the start WL, it’s cooler here today and overcast I think we are due rain later, I have a wash on the go but it can stay on the airer so I can get it in quickly if it does.
I have a few admin type jobs to do today so will get those done this morning and then get the dogs out for a walk, I will pop into mums after as she wanted me to buy her a strong torch so I will take that round and show her how it works, her eyes are so bad she won’t be able to read the instructions.
Salmon for dinner tonight I might do a salmon fried rice as we all love that and I’m getting a bit fed up with new potatoes, I have some asparagus and green beans which I can put in it.
Mehefin I hope the quilt gets finished in time xx
TA enjoy your time away xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Thanks @WL for taking on the mantle of starting us off today and a Good Morning to all.
Yesterday turned out to be much nicer than was forecast, no rain and I even sat outside for a little while in the afternoon so my new brolly still hasn't been christened. 😁 Apart from having to remember to water the hanging baskets regularly, they're what I call 'easy gardening' and are looking good. I may not be up to gardening as much as I used to be, but the bees are appreciating them so I'm still doing my bit for wildlife! It's cloudy out at the moment and light showers are due but, who knows, it might be just as nice today.
When I went out for milk yesterday I also bought a pack of burger buns and a pack of hot X buns, both YS, and next week's TV guide. Those who enjoy football will be happy with the coverage of the World Cup for the next few weeks but I'm afraid I'm not in that camp. Never mind, I have other things I can do - TV programmes to catch up on, not to mention a reading pile that never seems to go down despite being an avid reader - one returned yesterday 😄 but another three came home with me. 🙄 I think I'm a readaholic! DS enjoyed his first day back at work and is being very MSE by taking a packed lunch that he makes up the night before - I just need to make sure there are sandwich fillings, fruit, nuts etc to go in it.
Today my 'extras' are to wash the net curtains I took down yesterday, make a couple of quiches and cook the last two chicken drumsticks so I can use the meat for a tub of coronation chicken for sandwiches or with a salad. I'll have a more detailed look at my latest energy statement but a quick glance tells me I'm at the point now where my credit balance will start to build up again ready for winter. Another hour of cross-stitching this afternoon should finish off the last of a set of four that I started at the beginning of the year (or was it just before Xmas?). If I hadn't had my cataracts done I wouldn't have been able to do those so that's something to be thankful for.
@TA - The steam train ride + breakfast sounds like a good way to start your week.
@mehefin - Oh no! Forgetting the quilt backing fabric must have been so frustrating for you and Gwen, fingers crossed it makes the deadline. I look forward to photos.
Have a good day all, take care. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all
Coffee time after some housework.
Windy, cloudy and cooler today.
I saw that one of our libraries is doing a book club for crime readers. Right up my street so I'll go along tomorrow and see what it's all about.
Nothing planned today so hope everyone has a good day and the quilt race is won!

Hello everyone
I've been down to the care home this morning, they were getting inspected …I took little foster baby down with me as my mam loves to see him. Dad had him on his knee as well today, I took a lovely photo of them. He's upstairs asleep now…the baby not my dad! - so I'm having my lunch and then have some jobs to do, depending on how long he sleeps.
He's with me while DD gets her hair done, she dropped us off at the care home. I had both him and little one yesterday for a couple of hours after school. She was full of herself because she'd been to music club where she's learning to play the trumpet! Apparently once you're good enough you get to bring the trumpet home…she said ' I expect I'll have a sleepover for two nights the weekend I bring it home!'
It's the first session of cookery club today so she was very excited for that, she loves to help cook. It's only recently she's had the energy and been well enough to stay for the extra hour at school, I'm so happy she can.
We had a very loud storm last night, the lightning was the brightest I've ever seen. Raining just now, showers are forecast all week.
Right I'm going to finish lunch then get on, I hope everyone has a good day x

hello everyone I’ve just got in from a cleaning job well two actually I’m shattered one I only do once a month but it’s enough I’m just enjoying a sit down and a cuppa definitely to old for this cleaning lark now but I will feel differently in an hour I don’t want to give them up because I’ve done them for a lot of years and they are all in there 80 s and 90 s now and they wouldn’t be comfortable with anybody else going and there houses aren’t dirty it’s more bathroom and kitchens they can’t manage they chance to all outlive me . We have heavy showers here but we hit lucky yesterday lots of dark clouds but we had a warm dry day and got some outside work done and a sit outside with a cuppa. Yorks lass I’m another readaholic I even say to the girls in the library don’t let me look but I always do and come home with a couple of books pleased your DS had a good first day at work . Im having fish tonight hubby is having sausage it’s made a tiny gap in the freezer. I’m also hoping to build some credit up for the winter as I used a lot in may because it was so cold . Chrisca I go to a book club and I love it but a crime one would be right up my street . TA the steam train sounds lovely. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the welcomes yesterday. 😊
Need to tidy round desperately but pretty tired and got some admin to do. Maybe I'll check out the flylady thread.
In good news, OH got his card cloned on Sunday and we've just had the refund - £320 back where it belongs!
