Newday - no contact still
I have previously mentioned I won my affordability claim back in Dec/Jan with Newday.
I’ve had no letter directly from them but they sent it to the FOS who forwarded it to me. So I know my outstanding balance.
When I won back then I called Newday (yes I know should haven’t) and asked about paying it and they gave me two of their bank accts numbers and said just pay into these. The acc numbers for Newday to pay into weren’t the ones on my old statements that they said to pay into previously so I was reluctant to pay into them. Firstly because wanted to make sure they were right but secondly because I have no log in access to anything so I can’t check my balance or check it’s being paid into. Like it would if still had the acct or if was paying a debt collector.
I’ve mentioned this in my previous posts when I told you all about the affordability win and it was recommended not to contact them but to wait. Which I’ve been doing except that one call I made.
Thing is I’ve had no contact at all yet. Not even the letter confirming the win to me. So I’ve made no payments yet. Nothing since back when I stopped making payments to make it default so probably well over a year and half going on two. These balances aren’t small either two cards totalling £7k+ left to pay.
Should they not have contacted me by now? I can’t afford much, but I really wanted to start paying a small amount but I also wanted to be able to log in and see my balance.
Is this normal to take so long? I just don’t want them to jump from not asking for money to just going straight to a ccj. Without giving me options to pay.
They are my only debts I’m not paying a payment plan to now and on my mind a little. So my main question is am I still holding off ringing them to chase it? I think the answer will be yes lol but wanted to check as I didn’t expect total silence from them when at the beginning I got 3/4 calls a day.
Thank you ☺️

I think you should just get on with your life. They don't seem bothered about you not paying so I don't see why you should be

Just worried it’s the calm before the storm. But yes should just wait it out and let them contact me

Would this be a good point for new SoA? Because on your old one, you have realistically almost no chance of paying off that debt, even at low partial settlement rates.

This is not unusual behaviour from a lender, most probable outcome here, is that they are lining up to sell this account at some point, so realistically I would expect that to be what happens.
They will be in no rush here, you may get lucky and they not bother with it at all, the longer its left, the quicker it will become statute barred, so I would second fatbelly`s advice.

yeah incomes increased a little due to receiving board now and sorting lower broadband etc but still only just above water. So will take a very long time to pay off. But if make some form of payment would keep them happy? And feel I need to be making some even if just small amounts for now. I will wait until they contact me though

Nobody knows you receive board. Make sure that you do not accidentally share this with creditors. Add any surplus to your emergency fund.
