Nationwide/Reach Out letters

Hi, I’ve had 2 letters regarding my nationwide loan that I’ve not paid since November 2025. I’m still waiting for it to default. I added the letter from Reach Out below. I know the advice is to not engage, however, as I’m waiting for an answer on write offs due to domestic abuse, I’m unsure if I should speak to them regarding that as they say they’re not a DCA and are simply there to help.

Ialso had a letter from nationwide prior to the Reach Out one, saying they’re have been contacted by CAB regarding the right off request, however, they don’t have a signature on my account and want me to go into a branch with ID in order to add a signature. The loan was taken out online, but I also had a current account which would have had my signature on so I’m hesitant to follow through with this.

I’d appreciate advice on how to proceed with both these. Thanks

Yes, tell Reach Out that you will not be paying anything until you have had a response from Nationwide about your request for a write off because of domestic abuse.

Go into a branch and get your signature added. It is simpler to just do this than try to dispute whether it is necessary.

Thanks, I guess my worry about giving a signature was that it could be added to a credit agreement, and if I do need to go down the road of CCA requests in the future it might cause other issues.

Getting a write off is your top priority and you should do everything you can to get that in my opnion.

Nationwide do not have a secret team forging CCA agreements. And signatures are not required on a CCA anyway (except for incredibly old ones, not relevant for your loan.)

If you have any other debts you may make a CCA request for, you should do this as soon as possible, as legislation is being laid before parliament to that may significantly affect your right to do this. NB it is not worth doing this for a recent, unsold loan.

    Thank you again!

I’ll speak to Reach Out today and explain the situation. I had read about the upcoming change in legislation for CCA requests but I feel while I’m awaiting write off requests it would muddy the waters to put in CCA requests for the older debts.

II agree with that. If the strategy is write-offs then you need to work with them, not ignore them.

Also there is no requirement in the CCA for a signature to be on a copy credit agreement, so that negates that issue.

Thank you everyone. I phoned ReachOut and told them the situation, they were very nice about it. Now I need to get to a Nationwide branch and get the signature sorted.
