Good Morning everyone,
I’ve been up for a couple of hours as the heat has made me queasy. It will be another day of taking it easy, sat in front of the fan. I do have a few admin jobs that I can do which I have been putting off for a week, or so.
I will also read some of my book now that the football playoffs have concluded. I am trying to read more this year, less screen time!
Dinner tonight is a ready meal (Chinese) so will be nice and easy. The last couple of nights it’s been so hot I’ve only fancied toast.
Take care all.12 -
Good morning, thanks Gers.
It looks as if it's going to be another hot 'un today, I'm not complaining though.
Ds and dil came yesterday, it was good to see them. If I'd known sooner that they were coming I would have asked them to pick up my plants from the garden centre, but no matter. Ds took some stuff to the tip,
The aforesaid plants weren't delivered till nearly 5pm, the guy said he'd been rushed off his feet and still had 2 deliveries to do. I didn't get any in, I laid the trays out and watered them thoroughly, so a start must be made today.
The delivery man gave me his card - he is a 'man with a van' doesn't work for Dob* ies. It's handy to know someone like that.
We are going to replace the fence in the back yard, it's looking a bit careworn ,been up 20 years. We've been looking at local fencing contractors, so Dh can contact some of them today.
Dh seems a bit better, but has a ferocious cough, which will hang on for a while.
Hope everyone has a good day take care folks.

Morning All
Wow, it was hot yesterday! I went to Ikea for some units for the laundry, just a very quick visit before the traffic got too bad although it was a bit slow on the way home.
Watered allotment 1, put together what I could of the units and started on the garden - that's all now weeded and Mr next door cut the hedge so I only had to clear up (although Mrs next door did offer) and take the bags of clippings to the tip. Put some more veggies in at allotment 2 and did half an hour of digging out weeds, another half an hour should do it for now. When I came back from there about 6pm the car showed 29 degrees.
Hot and sticky night with not much sleep and back to work today.
Your bike rides sound lovely Ruby.
Happy planting Scarlet.
Cloudy at the moment but still incredibly warm, work will be too hot and there's no breeze although the washing is out.
Stay cool everyone. Take care. XX

Sadly, no heatwave here yesterday though the sun appeared to gather strength in the early afternoon until the frisky wind started again. I made my early appointment in good time and then did a little shopping. Of course I bought too much so had to jiggle the freezer around to get a couple of things in.
Late in the afternoon my ex phoned, he was in the area and could he visit and stay over. I have to admit that my heart sank at that. He's not the best company but I relented as I've put him off the last twice. ☹️ He's still asleep on the sofa bed but I'm about to go down to disturb him.
This afternoon is my final invigilation for this year, when I get home I'll submit my claim to Qualification Scotland.
I hope that everyone can enjoy the sunny weather, drink water. Hugs to all.

Yup another hot one today, phew! Disturbed night last night because of the heat. Then woke up at 5am but managed another hour before I woke again.
Will go down in a mo and water the garden before it gets too hot. Now the weather has changed I'll put all the winter stuff away and get out the summer stuff. Hope I don't regret it although going on holiday in a few weeks so will need some of it then.
Hope everyone has a good day xx

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another hot 'un forecast here. 29 deg. I can't cope with the heat as much as I once was able to so I'll be finding somewhere cool if I can. But I'm not complaining as we have waited long enough for good weather to arrive!
Today will be a day of same old same old. Doing what I can (very little!) and ignoring what I can't. I'll have a freezer dive shortly and see what appeals. Yesterday I had salad, baby Jerseys and fish cooked in the air fryer. Nothing too taxing so will do similar today.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. SCARLET I hope DH soon shakes off his cough and cold. Hot weather makes the symptoms worse. Take care all, be safe x

Morning all
It’s going to be another scorcher I must admit I’m loving this weather, my OH who tans really easily is already a deep brown colour, the thermometer on the garden wall read 45 deg yesterday afternoon it is a sun trap and the thermometer is on the house so would be taking some heat from that but I was really surprised 😮
I have two people coming today and we were going for a walk but I think it’s too hot so we are going bowling and to McDonald’s for lunch, if we have time we may take a little walk along the canal where it’s shady.
Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and get something out after this,
I got a call yesterday from someone I used to work with offering me some work😃 it’s two days this week and potentially more going forward, it’s for a man with MS who needs some more help now, I have to be there at 7 tomorrow morning 😳 so I will leave here at 6.15 it’s about 25 minutes away but I will leave extra time as I don’t know where I am going, I finish at 1 though which is nice, hopefully it goes well and there will be more work going forward 🤞
We had to buy a new fan for the bedroom as the old one was not fixable, so we got a tower one which works amazingly and has a quiet mode for overnight, I am a very light sleeper but with my ear plugs in it didn’t disturb me at all.
Wm is on and I will hang it out before work, I will also water the garden before the sun comes round.
Have good days all and take care xx

…and, he's gone! Kitchen cupboard left open, microwave left open, milk left out and wet shower mat still on the floor - drives me slightly potty. 😊
The mist is still hiding Jura, more Brigadoon style, though it'll burn off later. I've put a quick wash on to get the towels done and hung out.
I want to buy a lightweight summer jacket so spent some time on Marks' site as I can collect it before going away, no joy. Most are short or brown! The one I liked is 'online only' which means it'll get posted out but not in time. I'm resigned to not bothering, I'll take my cardigan instead!
Great news about a new client @RedRuby1231, fingers are crossed that it works out. Sorry about the lingering cough @ScarletRibbons

Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
@RedRuby1231 good news about the job, hope it all goes well
It's so hot, I haven't any energy. My neighbours had a party at the weekend which was loud and went on until the early hours so trying to catch up on sleep
Not sure what's happening with the water but got bottled water delivered yesterday. I did notice pressure was a bit low but just assumed it was demand.
Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.10 -
Morning all, thanks @Gers - glad to hear your house guest is no longer under your feet!
Gosh, it was hot yesterday! I did only half of what I intended doing and spent most of the day outside sitting in the shade, either reading or people watching, but had to admit defeat and retreat to inside by late afternoon. I hadn't planned on doing any laundry but did wash my winter coat that soon dried outside so that's another job out of the way.
Today promises to be just as hot (30 deg) although there could be some light showers later this afternoon, so I expect today will follow pretty much the same pattern as yesterday - doing as little as possible! 😁 If/when the rain does arrive there are inside pottering jobs I could do if I have the energy. Tea tonight is cooked gammon slices with leftover potatoes and cauliflower (diced and fried in chilli & garlic oil) and pasta salad (also a leftover). I think we all struggle with what to eat when it's hot, so thanks @peony for your mention of a ploughman's - that may well appear on the menu!
Nothing else happening here so I'll wish everyone a good day and have my fingers crossed for those who didn't sleep well last night. Take care, stay hydrated. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9
