Overpaid income tax 2025/2026
Looking for some advice regarding overpayment of income tax for 25/26 tax period,The overpayment is a result of an unusual set of personal circumstances of approx £4500. I know that HMRC say that any under or over payment will be resolved between June and October 2026 for the previous tax year. In peoples experience is there any point in ringing them armed with my definitive savings and dividend payment history for 2025/2026 (with relevant statements) to chase things along any advice/ experience gratefully received. What are the chances of being successful

I don't think you arel likely to need the dividend history, just the total amount taxable in 2025/26 seems to suffice for dividends.
But you will need the interest details for each individual bank account.
Presumably you don't meet any of the criteria to need to complete a tax return for 2025/26?

Understood thanks.
No I don’t would have been easier if I had. am I likely to be successful in getting the overpayment sooner if I give them a ring with all the details ?0 -
I cannot answer definitively, but my guess would be no, you will not get it paid any quicker by contacting them.

As others said, no you wont get it quicker
However, a call at times and speaking with someone who has knowledge about something others may not may ensure speedier repayments and ensure you are processed for what you needed to do. Therefore, give them a call, but it's luck of the draw; therefore, personally, I'd give it a shot.

That is the target/theory, but in the last couple of years they have been running around 3? months late.

My 24/25 was done in January this year.
