PRA Barclaycard

Hi all,

I have a Barclaycard debt which was sold to PRA after default (default date around April 2024). I have requested CCA from PRA multiple times and haven't received. They have emailed the generic stuff a few times about make payment, offer on account etc.

They have now emailed saying action must be taken, and on this it says 'If we report this account on your credit file and you pay the full balance, either in one payment or over time, it will show as ‘Satisfied’.'.

I have a couple of questions if anyone knows/has experience with PRA:

1 - can they mark it as 'Satisfied' if a default has been sold to them? Is it now classed as a stand alone debt and would therefore create a new default on my report?

2 - should I go back to them again about the CCA or just ignore?

Many thanks

Do not do anything until they produce the CCA, or tell you they have asked Barclycard for it and it has appeared.

I hope you know anything you get by E Mail is an empty threat, they must contact you by snail mail if they are thinking of applying for a CCJ. So honestly ignore it if you contact them it encourages them.

If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

yes a debt purchaser like PRA will normally report the debt that they have bought to the credit reference agencies. They have to use the same default date as the original lender - what did Barclaycard use?

This does look like a second debt, but only 1 is counted, not the original lender default and the later debt purchaser default.

This is NOT a good reason to pay the debt; they will report it whatever you do.

They own the debt so if you pay the full balance they will mark it has satisfied, the default will still show and it will still affect your ability to get credit elsewhere. Have a look at what Debt Camel says:

You don't want the CCA to be produced so just ignore them until they either produce it or send you a letter before action which you will need to respond it.

Thanks all. PRA appeared on my credit report in February 2024. I think this is when they 'took over' the debt/started chasing from Barclaycard. I have previously requested CCA and then gone back to emails saying I had requested and hadn't received it. I haven't emailed them since December and they never sent the CCA on email which they said they were going to (after not sending in the post).

I have also had a couple of Cabot accounts marked as 'closed' on my credit report. Does this mean these have been sold on to another company now/sent back to the original creditor? I haven't cleared these yet.
