Its quiet on here this morning I hope everyone is having a good lay in.
Looks to be a nice day the sun is already shining, bad weather due back tomorrow though so need to make the most of today, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out before I go out.
Off to mums this morning for a few hours and then I will go Wednesday for a couple as well, it seems to be working well with me splitting my hours up and it means she is having regular meals.
I cooked a gammon joint yesterday so that’s for dinner tonight with egg and chips, hopefully there will be enough left for a carbonara for tomorrow..
I didn’t get round to painting yesterday so that’s still on the cards, I cleaned out the fridge and freezer instead and potted on some plants, I will get to the painting this week though.
OH has the day off today to take his mum to a GP appointment and this afternoon he has asked me if I will help with his tax return, when I say help it’s actually me that does it and he just lingers for moral support 😂
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all - and thanks for the start @RedRuby1231. a vigorous wave hello to all.
Made it back from my travels yesterday late afternoon, very weary though equally happy. Seeing my friends in Newcastle, albeit briefly, was so lovely and then the two days with my dearest friends was a joy. They worked so hard to make the garden and house party ready. They invited only 40 people who all turned up bar one. I am quite jealous as six of the men had been to school together and five of the women at university together. My life lacks such long-lasting friendships, perhaps because I didn't work hard enough at them or perhaps because I moved away for such a long time so lost the chance to. Anyway, it was a joyful time, party in the garden until the rain started at about 6.30'ish and the cold crept in.
The drive home was nearly five hours though I broke it up at Cairn Lodge service station which is a great place, it's part of the Tebay 'family'. Had a wee, a coffee and a browse around. Bought a loaf (from a Glasgow bakery) and a couple of pieces of Scottish blue cheese. Once home I wasn't long for staying upright. Glad to visit and glad to be home.
Today I have a little shopping to do. Haven't read back folks, sorry! I hope that there's hasn't been any disastrous happenings. Hugs to the poorlies, take care everyone. xx

Morning all
Glad you enjoyed your weekend away @Gers
Blue sky out there at the moment, clouding over later though.
Off to the garden centre this morning to get a clematis as the one we moved didn't survive the change. Will have a browse round the food section too to see what might fall into the trolley.
Nothing else planned today so hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning
It looks like it's drizzling out, and feels chilly. Well I finally had my cataract surgery on Friday. The surgeon was very pleasant and the nursing staff happy and friendly, so different to last time. Already I can see the difference to my sight. Just 2 weeks now of drops and taking it easy, not something I'm very good at.
Other than that it's been a weekend of resting and letting DH do the chores. No idea what's for tea, I need to go through the fridge and see what we have.
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning folks and thanks RUBY. Welcome back GERS, sounds as though a good few days was had. Pleased all went well this time REMMIE. It sounds a regular thing, one good eye op and one not so good as YL and I can vouch for!
After 8 thoroughly lazy days it's back to the grindstone today, with a mountain of washing accompanying me! I need to do a clean around before I leave but no immediate rush as DD not picking me up until late afternoon. I hope.to be back in another few weeks.
DD did a sponsored 10 mile pub crawl on Saturday, in aid of the hospice, around the Grassington area. She said it went well, only a quick alco free stop in 3 pubs but still took 7 hours and was hard going in some parts but she said they had enjoyed it all the same.
Have a good day folks if you can, take care all x

Hi everyone,
It's another lovely day here, yesterday was very warm so I spent a bit of time in the garden. We've decided to have it landscaped when the house in Yorkshire sells. We don't use it enough at the moment, it gets too hot and there is no shade to speak of. We want to zone it so that we can make shady areas and better seating. It will mean losing the lawn because it isn't a big garden but hopefully we'll be able to use it more.
We emptied one of the freezers and to my shame discarded some old freezer burned stuff. However we did eat a small butterflied leg of lamb dated 2023 last night and it was absolutely delicious. I usually make a comprehensive list of what is in there and it falls by the wayside. This time I have just made a list of about 10 items to use quickly. When that is done I will try to make another list and hopefully we won't end up throwing stuff away in future. Steve spotted that the fridge had a crack down the back panel as well. He contacted the manufacturers (Liebherr) and because it is just less than 2 years old they are replacing it on Wednesday. They won't be extending the warranty though which seems a bit off. When my food processor motor broke Sage replaced it under the warranty and extended it and I had to have another replacement a couple of years later.
I'm getting used to the electric car, Steve reckons it has saved us about £130 in fuel in the last month which is all to the good. He has it all organised so that it charges when we have cheap hours on our tariff.
Have a good day.

Morning all,cloud/sun on and off here and chilly.Got cold watching DGS on Saturday morning, and at teatime they were in a tournament at our stadium. It was very last minute but he loved to be on the pitch. It was a long evening, & we didn't get anything to eat until 10pm! Worth it though as they won!
I needed some bird food, the resident wood pigeon with a wobbly walk gave me a look when I put out what bit I had left 😉so got some off A, and they seem happy now.
Meeting my DB2 and SiL for lunch at the pub so we can pay for our coach trip next weekend to Wemb ley. Better go and get ready.Hope you all have a good day.

Morning all, thanks for today's start @Ruby. I've been reading along but haven't posted for a couple of days because it's just been the same old, same old, with not much of interest to say but I hope everyone has had a good weekend.
Glad to hear you've finally had your cataract surgery @remmie; lucky you with eye drops for just a fortnight - I had a month's worth!
Sounds like a good weekend @Gers. I know what you mean about the lack of long-lasting friendships; I seem to have acquired plenty of 'acquaintances' over the years but true friendship isn't always easy to sustain, especially when 'life' gets in the way.
@TA - Well done to your DD on completing the sponsored pub crawl, a worthwhile cause in support of the hospice.
Today's weather forecast says it will be overcast with a gentle south westerly breeze and feels like temps up to 13 deg but, as usual, it could rain at any time. It seems we can have either mild/wet or cold/dry! I live in hope the summer clothes will have a decent outing this year. 😁 Nothing exciting happening, just the usual housework stuff. I think it was @Chrisca who mentioned the Patricia Cornwell book I've been reading - yes, it was a bit gory in parts but a good read. Tea tonight is a salad of some kind with this week's meals all coming from what I have in store so I should be able to pull back at least some of last month's overspend.
Have a good day all, thinking of those who are struggling for whatever reason. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Hi everyone
Just had a catch up while I ate my tea, very nice left over lasagne little one and I made on Saturday. DD had a tummy bug at the weekend, so I ended up having them both Friday and Saturday nights which was quite lovely really. It's all a bit gloom and doom down at the care home so they make a pleasant change. I had to go down to start emptying the kitchen cupboards at mam and dads house on Sunday morning, baby slept the whole time and little one was an excellent help, getting all the stuff out of the bottom cupboards for me. She made it a lot more cheerful than it would have been just me, with all her comments on what she found, 'How many paper napkins did great gran need?', 'I've found another box of cutlery', 'AAh look it's my baby spoon'….
I'll finish the kitchen cupboards on Wednesday morning, the we're ready for the Salvation Army coming to empty the house next Monday. The estate agent has been and valued it and it will be listed once it's empty.
Scarlet Ribbons to answer your question from the other day, yes we had quite a long chat about democracy, little one had obviously been listening at school. I made it into assembly on Friday afternoon just in time to see her get a certificate for getting all her spellings right, so she was beaming and waving it at me. They have it before school ends on a Friday so I usually make it across from nursery for the last 10 minutes, depending on our parents being on time.
Right I'm going to wash my dishes then have an hour with my Sunday Times, which didn't get opened yesterday x
