Vanquis default - had no idea until I saw it on ClearScore

I need some advice

I’ve been making temporary arrangements with a few of my cards whilst unwell multiple chronic illnesses

I missed two on Vanquis and was £30 in arrears . I’ve been in touch and now back up to date .

This morning I’ve noticed a default on my ClearScore saying added January

is there anything I can do as I don’t recall getting any notice ? I do suffer from a condition which can impact memory/ cognition so it may well be I didn’t see it or thought it was just arrears notification

I am going to ring them tomorrow

Feeling a bit worried as I’ve been doing everything to avoid any defaults remortgage is in 2.5 years .

can I complain or is it pointless just focus on keeping payments made to them each month ?? Any advice welcome

Remortgage won't be a problem as long as you stay with the same provider, no credit check is done.

Are you sure you are doing the correct thing with your debts? Have you posted on here giving full details and asking for help?

If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

If you fail to make the contractual payments you do risk a default. If you agree an arrangement, you risk an AP marker, which is just as bad.

If it's just a case of remembering to pay then setting up a direct debit for the minimum payment will solve that. Maybe do that tomorrow.

If you are struggling with multiple debts then we will need a statement of affairs to give better help. That maybe the better course, and have an aim to get debt free.

Are you certain its an actual default?

Because a creditor is obligated to send you a default notice first, giving you ample time to remedy the breach to your account, its covered by sec 87(1) CCA.

Does it show an actual default, with a date it was defaulted?

It wasn`t a notice of "default sums in arrears" was it?

All that means is a £12 late payment charge, that`s not a default.

Some people just see the word default and assume the worst.

If they failed to send a default notice, you may have an argument that the default was improperly executed, you could put in a complaint, its anyone's guess if that would be successful, but it has been done in the past, for the price of a stamp its worth a shot.
