But do you actually need to contact them ? Quite often it can all be straightened out within your on line tax account.
As has previously been asked - how much does your tax account estimate you will earn from your work ?

This happens to me almost every year. The first time I phoned the tax office because I didn't understand it and they said it was used to fill up the gap between my small pension and my tax allowance and they then changed my estimated pension to equal my tax allowance and the unpaid interest bit disappeared.
The same thing happened with my daughter re the unpaid tax on interest and as soon as she got a job paying above her tax allowance it disappeared
Since then I have left it as is and have never paid tax on any interest.
It's confusing and actually quite worrying and I wish they wouldn't do it!!!

When I was Employed as Payroll Manager, on a few occasions I would try at 7.58/ 7.59am and get an answer, so it is worth a try.
