Tesco Vouchers on Home Delivery Minimum Value Baskets
Just been caught out by Tesco applying vouchers to the home delivery basket before checking the basket value against the £50 minimum basket criteria for using Delivery Saver.
So for example as a Delivery Saver customer:
Basket value £54.99
Apply £5 voucher
Minimum basket charge £5 now applied when it should not be
So charged £54.99.
You have to get in touch with Tesco Customer Services to have the £5 refunded but unfortunately not all operatives know about the defect in the underlying programming so you have to persist.
Delivery driver knew of the problem but does not have sufficient permissions to remedy.

I think thats always been the case its not a defect. In my experience vouchers are always subtracted before checkout, so if it brings the basket below the present £50 you'll pay the minimum basket charge.
Admittedly it doesnt help that until you reach £50 it shows the basket charge in the total, so at a glance you think you are over the limit, thats nearly caught me out a few times. You just have to check and check again before committing.
In fact its the same on most sites, the offers reduce the total before checkout. I just had a 20% on a petfood site, I had to buy 6 bags to get free delivery, but once the 20% was deducted I was back below the free delivery point so had to add another bag to put it over.
I would still ask customer services, its always worth a try.
I had a row with morrisons, a few years back after the first delivery. Substitutions are charged at the substitutes price, but there was nothing anywhere obvious online or in the FAQ's to show thats what they did, and I expected theyd do the same as tesco and asda. I ended up with a delivery with substitutions and was shocked to notice an extra £13 on the bill, too late to hand it back to driver. I did get it refunded but they said it would be the only time. Haven't used them since!

Just message them on Whats App, it's so easy. I don't get a Tesco Delivery very often now but if the use by dates on the products don't match the amount of days specified on their website I often ask for a refund on those too, sometimes I have had 3 times with the use by date the following day when they should have 3/5 days. Also some substitutions aren't to the same value, say for example I order a 750ml tub of yoghurt and they substitute it with two 300ml tubs I complain about that too. Not getting done over lol.
Also several years ago a delivery driver said many customers (not me) add a bottle of spirits or something to their order to make it go over the minimum amount you have to spend and then hand it back on delivery and say they have added it in error. I've not done it just reporting on what the delivery driver told me.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
