Pension Scammers Target People Who Want To Avoid IHT
Putting this here just in case although I suspect none of the regulars here would fall for it.
As with all IHT, the only ways to avoid it are impoverish yourself, risk running out of money, convert cash to income, or trust your offspring.

As with all IHT, the only ways to avoid it are
impoverish yourselfare to start spending more money on enjoying your self instead of hoarding it away .I think this change of phrase more suits the usual readers of this forum 😉

scamming tax avoiders - there’s a certain irony there

The article was a bit disappointing, very little detail.
ways to avoid IHT
buy an annuity
gift money
gift from excess income
put it in trust…just swaps one lot of taxes for another and comes with complexity and expenses
move to another country and live there for long enough.
And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.1 -
Arguably the scammers are serving a purpose.
There seem to be a significant number of senior members of society who won't spend their money on themselves and won't gift the money during lifetime, so just hoard the cash but those same individuals are now also concerned about incurring IHT which they want to avoid at all costs.
It is a circle that cannot be squared in normal mechanisms.
A company that takes the money away allows those contrary objectives to all be met. The money is not spent or gifted and IHT is avoided.
The solution is there needs to be far better financial education about what all that money people worked hard to accumulate is for. In the mean time, there are many villages, towns and cities up and down the country where the richest people are all in the graveyard.

You forgot not dying - at 309 I'm comfortably off now and my annuity is still ticking-over nicely.

maybe gift some money now; and help your family whilst you are still alive?

Sadly, many of those who will fall for this scam probably wouldn't even have been liable for IHT.
