Known Train Delay
If the day before a person knows there is a delay and has to reroute to get to the destination, do you think it's acceptable to get an earlier train to arrive at the destination at the planned time, even though ticket isn't valid on that train?

wouldn't that be the same as travelling without any ticket? it would be best to talk to someone either before boarding or as soon as you are on the train to see if you can get some leeway.
most guards/ticket checkers on the trains were completely human when I used to train a lot. it was a common thing then (probably now too) to not have a way to buy a ticket at the station and so I would board and go look for the guard to buy a ticket asap. Of course they might now expect you to buy one via some app now….

In what way is the ticket not valid on the earlier train?
If you purchased an off-peak (after 09:30) train but then boarded the 09:00 train, I would imagine that you would be pulled up if found out.
On the other hand, if you have purchased a ticket with seat reservation on the 11:00 train but then take your chances to find a seat on the 10:30 train, that is probably all within the fare rules in any case.
What, exactly, do the restrictions say on the ticket purchased?

If it's an Advance ticket you have to travel on the specified train unless it is cancelled

It was an advance ticket, and train was partially cancelled. it was from A to C via B but B to C was cancelled.
New route was A to B B to D D to C As going via D then to get to C at original time had to get the earlier A to B train. (tickets become valid travelling via D)Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
For an advance ticket if you know of problems beforehand you can cancel for a full refund and rebook for the new service.

Unless you are in a rush consider going on the next available train and claim delay repay, if delat sufficiently to qualify?
