Solax self use and export settings

Need a little help regarding the export side of Self Use mode for Solax Inverter. We have 10 panels on roof ( don’t know any more than that) with a Solax X1- HYB -3.7 Inverter and also a battery. The system have been in and up and running for year and all was well. From Feb 2026 we were getting Outgoing Octopus payments all fine. On checking Octo app 2 weeks ago to see export with all the sunshine we realised there had been no export, only the drips that go back in occasionally. Looked at Solax Cloud app and it said No Export. The app wouldn’t let us save a setting for Export. So we looked at Inverter touch screen. We are on Self Use which we thought was Load-Battery-surplus exported to grid. So we go to the screen with the No Export and turn it to Export and this is when I disappeared down a rabbit hole with Google for the past week!
So self use screen says return to utility soc 20% underneath it says return to battery Soc 80%. This is how it was set up we have never changed these or any other figures.

So Export Control screen has a box to tick for no export. Which we have unticked then below it says Export and choose a percentage we chose 50% and beneath that it says Max Utility charge current which is set at 20A. We haven’t touched that so are assuming it’s what the installers set it to?
Also it took ages for Installers to send mcs certificate and the DNO thing. I was just sent the reply they received in an email saying “Thank you for recent notification regarding the installation of 3.68KW PV. I have reviewed the documents you provided and I am pleased to confirm the information you have provided for the installation of new integrated micro generation system meets the requirements of the G98 notification process. Our records have been updated”

It goes on to say forward this email to your client. They should send this and MCs certificate to their supplier to negotiate an export tariff.

I was expecting a bit more info but that’s it. Just baffled as to why it all switched off and what we set it to now 😬.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a Solax inverter but if I choose 50% export then the export power is 50% of the maximum capable. But this applies to forced export where I deliberately discharge the battery. I almost never do this. My guess is that you are getting confused between settings for forced export and settings for "normal" export. In my case this occurs when there more solar power than is needed for the house or to charge the battery (because the battery is either full or charging at its maximum input power).

Does the export reading on your smart meter confirm what the Octopus app is telling you?
