Morning SCARLET and all to follow. Another glorious start here and the nithering wind of yesterday seems to have dropped a bit. That dratted wind is never far away these days.
I'm up and at 'em early doors as I have the Spring Covid booster at B**ts this morning. I wonder how much longer they will keep recommending this for us oldies. Whilst down I want to pop into H & B, I try to take advantage when they are doing BOGOF on stuff I normally buy there. I heard yesterday of yet another casualty in our town centre. Shoezone is now closing down. I rarely shop there but it's the last shoe shop we have now. Future generations here won't know what shops are. So sad when we were once such a thriving little town.
I managed to address the weeds in the front garden yesterday and get back up the steps without falling down this time! When I get back today the back garden is on the agenda, postponed from yesterday as I couldn't face doing battle in it in the wind.
Have a lovely day if you can folks and I hope our poorlies are on the mend. GERS that's a smart new track you have got there. Sadly our roads remain a mess with numerous potholes. Take care all, be safe x

Morning all - and thanks for starting the thread off @ScarletRibbons. It's another fab morning, not as chilly either.
The road-laying was quick and efficient yesterday. the new surface is lovely and shiny, or at least it was until the tractor left muddy marks and two horses weren't too polite. The riders jokingly apologised! I found out why the part past me was done so fast, a whole 200 yards hadn't been treated as 'it wasn't bad enough'. 🤣 Shiny black turns into dusty grey and back again. Hey, ho…it's so much better on the whole.
Whilst hanging around the house I decided to do a wool wash, gathered up the winter garbs and got them out on the line (no pegs needed as there wasn't any wind) and dried. Later on I went out into the sunshine to explore the new cafe in town. The very popular sandwich shop with adjacent gift shops were all sold recently, the new sandwich place is in the next building along and has almost all the same staff. This one has sitting space inside which was full up. Good to see.
Last night my nephew sorted out an e-sim card for my phone for when I'm away. It's now installed and ready to go when I arrive. I've been writing a 'to do' list, top of which was 'find the adaptor I bought two months ago' - both tasks ticked off. 😄
This morning I'm invigilating, should be out in time for the height of the sunshine. Take care everyone, hope that ills are soothed and beloved ones are safe. Hugs to all.

Morning all
Looks to be a lovely day out there and the wind isn't quite so bad today so will hang some washing out later.
Nothing planned today except a dust and mop downstairs.
For the first time we've started getting sparrows in the garden. Lived here 35 years now and this is the first time I've ever seen them. Wonder why?
On that brain teaser I'll wish you all a good day 😀 x

Morning again - it's another nice day here, sunny, but no doubt a bit chilly. As TA remarked, that cold breeze is never far away.
We had our Spring Covid jabs the other day at the Drs. I had to ring the Drs yesterday, they had messaged to ask me to book a medication review, when I rang I was given an appt for the end of May! Though the way the days slip away it'll come round in no time.
Our town centre seems to consist of nail bars and barbers - the independent bakers and green grocers are long gone, as are the shoe shops and clothes shops. It seems that town centres are dying. We used to have a twice weekly market but that gradually died out a few years ago. The market place is nicely landscaped with trees and seats, but the seats are metal - there's no way I would sit on a metal seat in the cold weather that we have all too often. Still, it all looks nice I suppose. Rant now over!
That new stretch of tarmac looks very smart Gers.
I have a few household jobs planned for today, there's always something to do.
Hope the poorly people are feeling better, take care folks.

Good morning
Bright and sunny, and the wind from yesterday has dropped, thank goodness.
Yesterday turned into a cupboard sorting day. Mrs ND gave me a bag of shampoo and shower gels, also some cleaning sprays. She said that since her chemo last year her sense of smell has gone funny. Things she uses once or twice she then can't stand the smell of. I'm not too proud and accepted them gratefully. I joked with DH they will last a year or two.
Dinner last night was pork chops, don't know what to have tonight. It seems the more we have in the more my inspiration goes. Although with the sunny weather I'm thinking something with salad.
@Gers We had the potholes filled in on our road last year, but they have sunk already. We call it going over the rumbles as that's the sound it makes in the car.
Well, big dog is waiting for his breakfast, so I'll wish you all a good day, take care.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here and the wind has dropped slightly, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out once it’s finished.
I’m going to mums today as I couldn’t go Monday, she wants me to help her pack as she is away with my sister next week so I will do that and make her a dinner and get her washing done and put away.
I have a phone call later about a job he seems like a nice young man but I am finding myself anxious about going into another house, I have never had trouble with it in the past but O’s mum was so nasty it’s kind of put me off, I know I will never ignore my gut feeling again!
Dinner tonight will be creamy garlic chicken with rice or pasta for OH and I, dd is off out for dinner, her house move is going well and they hope to exchange in June or July, she won’t move in immediately as they place will need a really good clean, the carpets which are threadbare are going to be removed and OH will put a new wooden floor down for her, the glittery wallpaper will also have to be taken down sharpish.
The boiler man is coming this morning and then dogs to be walked but dd will do that today.
DP1 have a lovely weekend away xx
Gers lovely new road 😃😃
Have good days all and take care xx

Good morning all, thanks for the start Scarlet. I agree, town centres are not the places they used to be. Our council is demolishing a big shopping arcade that was new when I was just starting work, apartments and offices are to be put there instead. TA we had a Shoe zone, not sure if that's still there.
Nothing much went on yesterday, DH was trying to spray paint a bit from the camper he'd taken off but gave up because of the wind.Seems to have dropped a lot now so he'll try again today., lovely and sunny. We stopped for an ice cream on our dog walk and got a dog pupaccino one too which Ldog was uncertain of at first but it went down well once it had melted a bit 😉We sat in the walled garden in the park to eat it,it's a lovely spot.
I'm making hash tonight from corned beef- I had 3 tins in stock.
Hope the poorlies, sad or worried are ok,take care all

Morning all, thanks for today's start @Scarlet.
The weather today is looking good - sunny all day, gentle breeze/light winds and temperatures up to 19 deg but, as usual, feeling a couple of degrees lower. No rain.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do today, for once everything is up to date. The WM is whirring away with a load of hand knits and, once they've been hung out, I'll just play it by ear. I know there are things I could do but it all depends on energy levels! DS is currently 'somewhere' in Scotland (no idea where as his phone signal kept cutting out when he was going through train tunnels) and should be back home later today.
Re town centres, I only venture into ours once a year when I go for my diabetic eye screening since it's the most convenient venue to get to by public transport and I honestly can't wait to get home again; I hate the crowds and traffic, even browsing the market doesn't appeal. It's changed so much over the years and I couldn't even tell you what shops there are. Good job I don't have FOMO! 😅
@Chrisca - We have a lot of sparrows this year but none at all in some years. The same goes for blackbirds. Somehow, there's always magpies, wood pigeons and crows.
@Ruby - I don't blame you for feeling anxious about going into another house after the performance you had with O's mum - 🤞 all goes well.
@Rosy - I'm hoping to use what's left of my tin of corned beef to make some pies (corned beef, potatoes & onion filling) for the freezer - if I can find room for them! 😁
Have a good day all, take care. X

Hi everyone,
I just thought I'd pop my head round the door. It's been a funny old couple of weeks with plans being changed or upset, mainly because of illness.
L & B and the children came for the weekend, they were having a day out with friends in London (with us looking after E and E) and on Sunday we were to have a family catch up with C, C and N. Not long after the parents left Esther started to vomit and carried on through the afternoon so that L and B cut their time short and came home. They took her to hospital on the advice of a 111 dr because the last time she had gastro she had seizures and she couldn't even keep water down. They gave her an anti-emetic which sorted her out but of course we put C, C and N off. The rest of the family have gone down with it this week apart from me and Steve which is astonishing considering she vomited on both of us more than once.
The rest of this week has been very quiet, we have even put off seeing Nate today, just in case. Tomorrow we are going to Pembrokeshire for a few days so I'm preparing a couple of meals to take with us and thinking about packing.
I've been reading most days so commiserations to the sick and injured.
Have a good day.
