Did you take out the DRO when your eldest was a toddler?

Yes, she was very small. It was certainly before she started school.

So given she's 17, you've not had a DRO in the last 6 years?

In this case you probably are eligible for a DRO. You have already put numbers into the stepchange online tool? or spoken to them? I think you should rethink the numbers in your SoA here, the groceries is too low and so are child costs / clothes. Look at changing them and go back to Stepchange and say the Parkers valuation on your car - ask if you are eligible for a DRO

Or you could talk to Payplan about this.

I cannot fathom why National Debtline advised you to take an IVA for a little over 8 grand of debt 😣

The only reason I can think of, is that someone rather new to the job, was reading from a pre-prepared script, as that was terrible advice to give you.

It is also strange that National Debtline did not suggest you talk to Payplan about an IVA, not StepChange.

Thanks all for your valuable input!

No I definitely have not had the DRO in the last 6 years so I’m thinking this may be a viable option.

You can hopefully all see why I was so confused!! It just wasn’t making sense at all.

I have arranged a phone appointment with Payplan in the next couple of weeks and I shall definitely be amending the budget before I do. I’m hoping they will be able to advise me on whether it is possible to continue on the dmp and if not then help me to apply for the dro.

I appreciate you all taking the time to read my post and share your thoughts
