I need comfortable safety shoes

I work for a large famous car company testing engines. They supply safety shoes and boots but they are so uncomfortable.
I work long shifts and my feet are always sore at the end of them.
I do a lot of walking (hills and dales) at weekends and have a great pair of walking shoes, they feel like I am wearing slippers.
Can any one recommend some safety shoes or boots with steel toe-caps that will help my poor feet at work.

Thanks
Crewe

I'd recommend Dr Martens, when I worked in industry - with smaller than average feet I was issued with a pair of these, lasted a long time - still have them and once worn in still continue to walk on air, although now they are only a trophy of my industrious past and I occasionally wear them to show my working class roots ;);)

    Hope this helps

Made by DM - just re branded as the above - not air cushioned soled though but very comfy none the less.

What size are you? I have a pair of unworn size 11 - brogue style. Company now issues boots so got a pair of surplus shoes i could sell you well cheap

My OH wears Magnums for work (not steel toe though) and he reckons they're really comfy compared to his DM boots.

He got his from the Army shop :)

  • <checks his current boots> I have a pair of Timberland Pro Series 24-7 series boots - and to be honest I keep wearing them to travel in and getting body searched at airports.... so I guess that tells you how comfy they are. I got them in Boundary Mill and they can't have been more than £40

'I need comfortable safety shoes' says Crewe.

I used to think that it was impossible to find comfortable safety shoes or boots and also suffered with sore feet.

I recommend that you have a look at the www.arco.co.uk site and find your nearest branch. Arco have branches around the UK.

My local Arco branch has a shop where you can try on the safety shoes or boots before you buy. It was only by trying several pairs that I managed to find some comfortable safety shoes and boots.

I am not connected to the Arco company.

    I hope this helps.

I agree with the previous poster about Magnums, as a qualified mechanic I used to wear DM's and they are rubbish compared to Magnums. Why do you think the fast majority of police officers wear Magnums? icon7.gif
  • Have to agree with Nile, Arco is worth a look, and if you buy as an individual, I think the VAT is waived on safety equipment - at least that seems to be what happens to me in Arco every time I buy something there (bumpcaps, high vis jackets, safety boots)

Whatever safety shoes you buy, maybe also get a pair of sheepskin insoles. They don't cost much and are so comfortable. Plus they will keep you feet cool in summer and warm in winter, and are washable.
