Barclays Overdraft, a weird experience

How do, I'm half way through my debts defaulting through my self managed DMP plan, anyway given overdrafts take an age to go through the system I thought why not contact them?

(I've deliberately not contacted loans etc. to get defaults quicker which seems to be working)

After speaking to their collections debt, they seemed slightly taken a-back when I explained my plan but then actually agreed it was well thought out. (After explaining why I'm not using payplan/stepchange etc)

Anyway got passed onto a manager who agreed to manually approve a default (can't be done automatically apparently) but he agreed it saves 6 months of letters.

Anyway hopefully should get the corresponding paperwork mailed soon and hopefully a collection company sold/transfer letter when it eventually gets auctioned off to Cabot or whoever.

I don't expect that to be quick though.

I was surprised they agreed however and that I kind of fast tracked the process. Maybe worth a try if you have an overdraft?

Who says that someone working for a bank can't be sensible for a change?! Normally you just get the "computer says no" line.

Hope it all works nicely for you!!!

You did well getting someone who listened and understood.

    Which bank was it?

Barclays. Just awaiting MBNA and Halifax cards to default now then I'll just be awaiting to see who they get sold to prior to payment.

If anyone is wondering their standard automatic defaults are 180 days of arrears for an overdraft. Information might help someone who needs a timeline.
