Buying a new car using PCP

I am in the process of buying a new VW car and have been offered a PCP. What was strange was that the salesperson could not provide me with the terms and conditions for the PCP and told me that I could only see the terms once I had paid the deposit and signed the agreement. Whilst he said the deposit is refundable I was very surprised to learn that you can only see the terms once you have paid a significant amount of money. Is this right? It seems odd.

I went though Admiral Car Finance and got all the paper work up front. If you sure you want the car then by all means put a small deposit down and maybe get the finance cheaper elsewhere.
