Even if you can set up a steady monthly payment, for the platforms I use it is still your responsibility to ensure there is sufficient cash available in the account.

That is why all my investment income is generated from income funds held in ISAs. Both II and AJBell have facilities to automatically pay out any generated income from ISAs directly into one's linked current account. So a fairly regular income with zero effort and zero tax which is useful if your total income is approaching the higher rate band.

I think it is generally a developing situation, where some platforms are adapting their systems to be more user friendly. Hence you get the conflicting info as it is a moving target,

I have mentioned on here before. I too have monthly UFPLS via my SIPP with A J Bell, which is not via an advisor. I tried to set it up on their website, but messed it up because it was going to be a one off and earlier than I had thought I had requested. It only took a phone call to resolve and set up properly.

I have just emailed them to make a change to the amount for next month. It did not involve any set up fee. You do have to make sure you have enough cash in the account. I have done this for the last two years, now going into my third.
