It's a slow start Saturday here. The murky weather isn't inviting me outside though it's milder.
I enjoyed my brief chat with an acquaintance yesterday morning, she talks so fast that it's hard to hear it all. Anyway, done and dusted. My lunch was chicken mayo with half an avocado, very tasty indeed. Then I spent too long trying to pull together certificates of interest to get ahead of the tax game this time round. Funny how one financial organisation emailed it to me within half an hour whilst a larger one will take ten days for the email.
No shopping to be done yet. I'm away on Monday so will do it on Tuesday when I get home. Mind you, I have indulged on some online purchases so haven't been so good. I'm invited to my closest friend's silver wedding anniversary next month so that needs a semi-dressy new top, my usual T-shirts or jumpers won't cut it! I've been stuck in a clothing rut for years and years so it's time for a change. 😇
Thinking about a gift for the anniversary got me stuck for a while until I found a set of Alessi heart-shaped ice cream (or any other pudding) spoons in shiny stainless steel. I'm pretty pleased with them and know that my friends will love them. Sorted.
I hope that the weather is better for everyone. @Suffolksue how was your boat trip? Hugs all round.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Showery again this morning, there was torrential rain yesterday morning but the afternoon was bright and sunny but very windy, good for getting the washing dried!
Had a good morning playing with the Little One, she had me empty all the baskets in the house so she could have enclosures for the zoo animals. She was fascinated with the chimney sweeping and wanted to go out to see the brush come out of the chimney but there's a cap on it so I was saved from going out in the rain.
Once DD finished work she met us at the allotment, lots of digging and some potatoes planted. Also lots of mud.
Must do some shopping this morning and visit the other allotment to put more potatoes in, nothing else is ready yet.
That's a lovely offer of your lady to make a quilt, such a lot of work. Hope you can get your car fixed, personally I would go through insurance.
Hope you've got over your embarrassment Coxy, an easy thing to do.
Sounds like someone has had a word with O's Mum Ruby, hope you get your money soon.
How nice you got your bags back Chrisca.
Right, must be off to the shower and start the day properly. Take care. XX

Morning all
Looking sunny out there today and feels a degree or 2 warmer too. Long may it last.
No plans today except the usual baking. Limes were on offer yesterday so I'll make a sponge with lime buttercream.
Footie match on tv in time for lunch so a lazy afternoon to come.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It was quite bright here earlier but sadly it's now looking a bit iffy with the usual showers forecast.
I was showered, fed and watered early doors as it's shopping morning with DS. Quite a long list this time. That's 'cos I am away to the caravan tomorrow morning for a week so need to be stocked up with victuals to take with me.. No nearby shop so everything has to go with me. I have done a menu plan for the week as I don't want to be chucking anything at the end of the week.. We do have a freezer there, which is handy, unless it's rammed with DD's supplies! Amazingly the weather forecast is quite good from Tuesday with lots of sun promised. I hope they are right. Just a shame I can no longer do the lovely walks we used to go on back in kinder times. Lots of books going with me as usual.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. A wave to our missing friends. Take care all x

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers - those spoons sound lovely x
The local AmDram production last night was quite fun - a lot of fluffed lines and a few sound issues, which all added to the amusement. We are at the community allotment today for a family day and quarterly meeting. Grilled salmon and veg for tea.
@Suffolksue our mums could be sisters from another mister - that’s just the sort of thing she says to me and DSis. Hope you enjoyed the trip on the boat.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all
Bright and sunny here with a bit of a breeze, the wm is on with the first load and another to do after, the washing should dry well outside today.
I’m going to do some gardening today, I might nip to the plant nursery in the village to see if they have bedding plants yet, it might be a bit early still but I can check, I still have a few bulbs to put in and my gherkin seedlings need potting on.
I think OH said he will treat us to an Indian tonight which will be nice, I might see if mum wants one too I will get her a really mild one as she doesn’t like anything hot.
OH needs to wash his work clothes later so the wm is free for the bedding tomorrow, and we need to do some housework.
O’s mum has till next Friday to pay me, I’m not holding my breath but there are steps I can take if she doesn’t pay.
TA have a lovely time away xxx
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all, been MIA for a few days.Spent time with the DGC on Wednesday, went out for our lunch ( the one I go to with my cousins) ending in an ice cream from a hut they have outside, and ending up on the retail park so DGD could pop in to BOOts, and bumped into my youngest niece so that was nice.
Weather is very mixed, blue sky and showers.
Setting off for DGS footie in half an hour, and then heading straight to the match afterwards, will be a real rush and prob won't get to see DB2 & family until half time.I sent him a message last night so they won't be worried :)
I went to next town shopping centre & market on the bus yesterday, I got some new tops , and a bit of mince and a teriyaki chicken stir fry of a butchers stall- had it before and was good so that's for tonight.
Right better dash, not caught up on news yet but enjoy your weekend folks.

Morning all, thanks @Gers for starting us off.
Not much change in the weather today - a cloudy morning with showers followed by sunny intervals this afternoon. Not feeling quite as mild as forecast either since the wind direction has changed from a southerly to a westerly.
Yesterday was a relatively lazy day although I did pop out to post a birthday card; I took my new windproof brolly with me but didn't need it, although I'm sure it won't be long before another test run opportunity presents itself! 😁 I carried on to the Co-op on the off chance they'd stocked up on bottles of their own label veg oil that's currently on an Aldi price match member price (£1.45/litre) and yes, they had some in so one made it home with me. I like to keep a spare or two of essentials, especially when it can be bought for a good price. Without going into panic mode buying, I think it's probably as well to be prepared considering the way world events are panning out.
Today there's some pottering jobs in the offing - those little things you know need doing but get put off - so I'll not be idle or up to mischief. There's a large chicken leg cooking in the SC, the meat to be stripped and used in chicken supreme for tomorrow's dinner and today's will be scampi, chunky oven chips and side salad. All next week's meals (and probably the week after too 🙄) will have to be based around what's in the fridge/freezer and pantry since there's very little left of this month's grocery budget.
@Gers - Those heart shaped spoons will make a lovely gift for your friend. It's easy to get stuck in a clothing rut so good for you on indulging in some retail therapy.
@TA - Have a lovely van trip, I hope the weather will be kind to you. 🤞
@mehefin - How kind of your friend to offer to make a quilt for your DS and wife to be; I'm not sure I'd have the patience!
Have a good day all, take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Hi everyone,
Gers I am trying to resist looking for those spoons, they sound just what I'd like but I don't need them.
Mehefin, If your friend is anything like me she has a houseful of quilts she doesn't know what to do with and has given friends and family lots so it's always good to have a project for someone new especially if the fabric is paid for.
Laura and the children have just left with Steve to rendezvous with Brian on the M4. We had a lovely couple of days in Yorkshire with them and then they came down here for another couple of days. Esben had a couple of his old school friends over for tea so it was mayhem for a couple of hours. I now need to tidy the house and water the plants. They are coming back on Friday for Esben to go to a party and Laura to a karaoke thing in London over the weekend.
I also spent a good part of the last two days over with Nate who wasn't well at all. It was a shame because we were hoping to bring him back to play with Esben and Esther and they were all looking forward to it. We'll have a meet up next Sunday though, all being well. Ziggy pup is still here because we didn't think it was fair to her to drag her back and forth although she is a good traveller.
Have a good day.
