Getting council tax band changed, penalised by year property built
I moved into a relatively small 3 bedroom bungalow 4 years ago. It is in tax band E as are several similar bungalows and all the large 4 bedroom houses in the road. The properties were built in 1990. I think the bungalows just tipped into the E band because being brand new in 1990 they were more expensive because they were new. The 4 bedroom houses are now worth a lot more than the bungalows. A new 3;bedroom bungalow built in the road behind my bungalow several years later and much bigger than mine is in band D as are most of the bungalows in that road all of different ages. My friends bungalow which is much bigger than mine about 1 mile away and in what is considered to be a much better area, is in band D. Is it worth me applying for my property’s tax band to be reviewed?

Probably worth applying, citing the 2 examples you've given and there should be 1990 sales evidence which the VOA will probably check. Only downside would be if they decide your band is correct and your friend's bungalow is underbanded
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
Thanks for this. I think my friends bungalow will be fine as it was originally an E band and the band was lowered to a D band after she asked for a band revision .
