Your chance to win a selection of five Booker-nominated books by Beryl Bainbridge, or a copy An Awfully Big Adventure, plus a limited-edition Booker Prize tote bag

To celebrate our Monthly Spotlight for April, An Awfully Big Adventure by Beryl Bainbridge, we’re offering three lucky winners the chance to win a selection of five Booker-nominated books by Beryl Bainbridge, plus a limited-edition Booker Prize tote bag.

Three runners-up will win a copy of An Awfully Big Adventure and a Booker Prize tote.

The Bainbridge Booker bundle includes:
An Awfully Big Adventure
Master Georgie
According to Queeney
Every Man for Himself
The Bottle Factory Outing

The Booker Prize tote bags feature illustrations by artist Iris de Moüy and aren’t available to buy.

The winners and runners-up will each receive one of two brand-new editions of An Awfully Big Adventure – from either Daunt Books or McNally Editions, allocated at random.

Shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1990, An Awfully Big Adventure follows Stella, a naive teenage girl who has been taken on as an assistant stage manager at a Liverpool theatre company. A story of childhood innocence and loss, Stella becomes obsessed with Meredith, the dissolute director, while also drawn to the celebrated actor O’Hara, who ends up playing an unsuspecting role in her life.

To be in with a chance of winning, simply enter your details by 12:00 BST on 5 May 2026.

This competition is open to readers anywhere in the world.
