Health & Dental Cover from Work, and my Tax Code
Hello,
Through my employer I can get Bupa Dental and Health cover (ie. where I pay - not my employer - around £90 per month for myself and my partner and we can claim back for dental treatment and optical and other things like chiropractors, etc. when we get an invoice from whatever we pay for, eg. up to £150 year for optical and £180 for dental, £300 for chiropractor, plus other things which we don't use but are there if we needed to use them, etc. similar to what Simply Health offer).
I've just realised because of this, my employer sends a P11d form to HMRC and as a result my tax code is 1169L (instead of, I assume, 1257L) which means I pay about £66 per month more tax.
Is this right? As my employer isn't paying for the dental and health cover - I am - so why do I have to pay more tax as a result of this - feel like I'm being charged twice.
Thanks in advance

No that doesn't seem right.
Are you sure that it is not a different benefit being reported on the P11D, such as private medical insurance (which is not the same thing as Dental and Health cover)?
I think that you'll need a conversation with payroll, to get clarification.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the speedy reply.

That tax code would suggest the benefit might be £66/month, but that would be a lot less than £66/month in extra tax.
