can't find my private pention...Please Help!
Hi, Can anybody help,
I opened a private pension years ago (about 2001) with Nationwide, which has since been changed over several times to other companies who had just continued to take out the direct debit.
The last I knew it was being taken out by Waystone but then after September 2025 they stopped taking my money and I have not heard from them since. I know that Waystone got taken over by Smart Pensions in November 2025 and have tried contacting them, to no avail.
I am on Gretel, but have had no luck and am not sending Subject Access Request letters out to several companies looking for answers.
Can anyone point me in the right direction PLEASE.
TIA

If you have any old paperwork, does it refer to the Nationwide pension as a 'stakeholder' scheme - the date looks right. If so, that went to Waystone, which was then acquired by Smart Pensions.
I think you need to go back to Smart Pensions and ask again. The most likely reason your contributions stopped is that you didn't fill in the necessary form - possibly because you never received it in the first place. Have you moved house and perhaps not updated your pension provider with your new contact details?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

Are you sure that is the same pension?
Waystone's pension was a master trust scheme which was recently bought by Smart.
Nationwide sold L&G pensions, which L&G later sold to ReAssure. So, only one change. Not several changes.

Waystone was a stakeholder pension. Smart acquired OWPT shortly after the Waystone deal - the first master trust to master trust transfer.

I don't think you need to faff around sending SARs. Waystone should be able to help by confirming the new contact details for your pension:
